Wanderers Announces $WANDER TGE for January 8th

The developers of Animoca-backed sci-fi roguelite Wanderers have announced that the TGE for the $WANDER token is set to take place on January 8th on the Base network. They’ve also shared info on token utility and tokenomics, while revealing that the first “WanderDrop” will launch on the same day the token launches on the same chain, rewarding players who played to airdrop in Wanderers and completed tasks on the official questing platform since the game’s open beta launch on the Epic Games Store at the end of July 2024.

What Is the $WANDER Token?

$WANDER is designed to not only be the core token for WanderCorp’s action-packed web3 title, but it’s also designed to be a “universe” token, an ecosystem token that will power multiple blockchain games and experiences under the Wanderers IP.

The studio developing this web3 space world was founded in 2021, and its NFT collections related to this galactic franchise have successfully generated more than 5700 $ETH in volume. They’ve also partnered with well-known names in the industry throughout these years, including Animoca Brands, Base, Treasure, Mon Protocol, Phantom Galaxies developer Blowfish Studios, and more.

The ecosystem that this token will fuel is said to be based on 4 key pillars: community, collectors, gamers, and creators. With the $WANDER token, the studio will power its platform and a variety of web3 games to give the community an opportunity to play and earn while engaging in the universe and spending the token in various ways.

What Is the $WANDER Utility and Tokenomics?

As you might expect from a cryptocurrency that is more than just a gaming token, $WANDER is going to have a wide variety of use cases that go beyond a specific game. According to the official X thread, some of the $WANDER utility includes staking to earn more rewards, on-chain minting, spending on in-game purchases, for creating premium tournament pools, for DeFi on Aerodrome, as well as for making “IP plays” involving AI, comics, NFTs, and more.

When it comes to staking, $WANDER and NFT holders will be able to stake their holdings to earn “Dark Matter”. Dark Matter is an XP system that will allow you to redeem rare prizes and upcoming airdrop allocations. So, if you want to gain access to all these rewards, you’ll want to stake plenty of tokens and NFTs.

When it comes to tokenomics, more than half of the total token supply has been allocated to the community. This means that 55.25% of $WANDER’s total supply is allocated to the game’s community and ecosystem, with 7% of that allocation reserved for distribution across Season 1, Season 2, and pre-TGE tournament pools.

Here is how the entire token supply is allocated:

Based on the given graph for the token’s vesting schedule, $WANDER tokens reserved for the team, investors, and strategic partners will start unlocking 12 months after TGE. It looks like each will have 50% of their tokens unlocked following the 12-month cliff, with more gradually unlocking each month. As for the treasury, community, and ecosystem allocations, a portion of each will unlock on day 1 of TGE. This means that Community WanderDrop 1 unlocks straight away when the token launches.
