Developer ManaStorm Studios has provided a recap of the rollout progress made so far for the closed beta version of Web3 strategy game, ScarQuest.

This means that we’re taking a look back at the 4 beta releases that have happened throughout Phase 1 to provide a summary of significant new features and announcements made to date.

Phase 1 & 1.1 Details

The first phase of this rollout marked the release of the game’s on-chain marketplace to provide a home for players to display and trade game-related NFTs. Various major and minor bug fixes to the blockchain title itself were made as the developers optimized various elements while adding a new hero, a notification feature for mechanics such as chrono chests and gathering systems, and more quality-of-life improvements.

Phase 1.1 brought new Mutant units, a Warrior unit and a new Cyborg unit to the game, while introducing new items for sale in the store alongside a gift pack selling feature. As for the marketplace, its loading speed was improved and an NFT transfer function was added alongside new sorting functions and a new background image. The update also marked the integration of WalletConnect and the addition of 1152-2 contracts, opening up the ability to trade comic cards, comic series and unit vouchers.

Phase 1.2 Info

This part of the testing phase began on March 7th, bringing the mobile version of the game to Android and iOS devices for a limited amount of users. This release included more new Cyborg units, bug fixes and adjustments, but also the introduction of a tutorial for defensive reinforcement battles. Another significant addition was the deck editing feature to the Biological Research Institute interface, making it easier to create decks and manage units.

Phase 1.3: Steam Listing

The launch of Beta 1.3 marked ScarQuest’s debut on Steam, opening the game to a wider Web2 gaming audience by not only having an official store page ahead of a future release, but also by allowing anyone to request playtest access through PC’s biggest gaming marketplace.

In Phase 1.3, the team introduced Twitter and guest account login functionality, making it easy to enable cross-platform support as mobile players could carry their progression on to PC by simply using the same Twitter/X account as on mobile. A skip function for opening treasure chests was added, alongside a reminder system for land tax collection and a revenge feature that made it possible to use the Battle Record to attack players who have previously raided you.
