DOGAMÍ Academy Adds in Battle Pass and Exclusive Cosmetics

The Battle Pass and Cosmetics are the 2 new features now added to DOGAMÍ Academy, bringing with them monthly Seasons that each have their own Battle Pass to level up your way through across Free and Premium tracks to unlock various cosmetic prizes and in-game rewards.
DOGAMÍ Academy Adds in Battle Pass and Exclusive Cosmetics

Ubisoft and Animoca-backed web3 mobile pet racing game DOGAMÍ Academy has been updated this month with 2 big new features: the Battle Pass, and exclusive new Cosmetics.

What Is the DOGAMÍ Academy Battle Pass?

The Battle Pass is a new progression-based feature through which players can earn various in-game rewards, including prizes that give you further options for customizing your Dogami pet. This means that you can earn currencies, materials, consumables, and the new cosmetics.

With the introduction of this system popular amongst online games, the way this free to play blockchain title works is now significantly different. From now on, the game consists of Seasons that each come with a new Battle Pass. Every season is about 1 month long, while the Battle Passes will generally have around 50 levels to progress through in order to unlock unique rewards. These levels aren’t correlated with your pet’s level. To level up the Battle Pass and unlock more rewards, you need Battle Points.

Battle Points are used exclusively to level up your way through the Battle Pass, and can be earned by doing daily and weekly missions. Harder missions reward you with a higher quantity of Battle Points. It is possible to earn Battle Points just from regular racing, but you won’t get as many points as you would from completing objectives. Battle Points do not carry over to the next Season, so once a new Season begins, everyone’s points will be reset.

You don’t need Dogami NFTs to earn Battle Points, as Iron Dogami (non-NFTs) are also acceptable. That being said, each Season will come with a Free and Premium track, and if you want to get better prizes, you’ll need to pay 500 NUBIX to unlock the Premium Battle Pass. If you don’t have enough, you can convert some of your $DOGA tokens into the premium currency. As the Battle Pass is tied to your game account, you can race and earn Battle Points with any Dogami you own or Pet-sit.

Season 1 kicked off on November 6th and will last for 34 days. Make sure to claim all the rewards you unlock from the Battle Pass before the season ends, because all unclaimed rewards will expire if you don’t claim them during the season.

Holders of Doga Bones can get multipliers for their Dogamis to help with progressing through this first season faster.

How Do DOGAMÍ Academy Cosmetics Work?

The second big new feature is Cosmetics, allowing players to customize their pets with Collars and Skins using 2 new cosmetic slots which are used for non-NFTs only, but that will change later on. You can earn these new items through the Battle Pass. More cosmetic slots will be added in the future for even more customization variety.

There are currently a total of 8 cosmetics that you can earn across 3 different rarities: 4 Collars, and 4 Skin Cosmetics.

Collar Cosmetics are said to be the main customization item that add unique themed textures and ornaments to make your pet stand out in style. All 4 currently available are of Rare rarity: Horus, Snakes, Beetle, and Winged.

Skin Cosmetics allow you alter the natural texture of your pet with various new patterns. Fur and eyes can also be adjusted by these items. They don’t actually affect the physical attributes of your NFT though, according to the official page in the whitepaper. There are 4 different skins/tattoos you can currently earn: Horus Green Symbol (Uncommon), Horus Red Symbol (Uncommon), Sand Cloak with Blue Mark (Epic), and Sand Cloak with Gold Mark (Epic).

For this initial release of Skins and Collars, you won’t be getting any actual NFTs. Cosmetic NFTs will be added at some point in the future though, meaning there will be both server-side and on-chain Cosmetics for players who want to own and trade their assets. All Dogamis can be equipped with any cosmetic you like, and you can even equip items to any dog in Pet-sitting too, with the system automatically unequipping all items once Pet-sitting is over.

You can possibly look forward to the Aura slot getting added by the end of this year, with more slots and cosmetics planned to launch in DOGAMÍ Academy from Q1 2025 and onwards.
