Bitkraft Ventures, known for its contributions to the gaming sector, has unveiled a $275 million venture fund. It is set to support early-stage startups focusing on gaming and interactive media, especially in AI, Web3, and blockchain gaming. This move not only bolsters Bitkraft's position as a key player in gaming investment but also marks a key milestone as the company's total AUM reaches $1 billion.
Jens Hilgers, the founding general partner of Bitkraft Ventures, shared his optimism for the future of play. "At Bitkraft Ventures, we are as committed to — and optimistic about — the future of the games industry as we were from the inception of Bitkraft in 2016," said Hilgers. "Newly formed game studios have seen substantial break-out successes over the last years, and the advent of AI in game production further benefits new upstarts in the space."
This new venture fund, Bitkraft Venture Fund 3, aims to target seed and Series A investment opportunities. The focus on Web3 is notably evident, as Bitkraft has previously backed major players like Immutable, creators of the popular blockchain game Gods Unchained.
The integration of AI into gaming is another area of focus for Bitkraft. The team expects AI to play a role in streamlining game production, reducing costs, and speeding up the release of new titles. Despite the challenges of integrating AI, the potential for this technology to transform gameplay experiences remains a key point of interest. Bitkraft's portfolio company, Inworld AI, is noted for its use of AI in enhancing player interactions.
A recent report, drawing on data from Unity Engine, Unity Cloud, and ironSource, along with a survey of over 7,000 respondents, outlined key trends shaping the gaming industry. Among these is the growing integration of AI into game production.
As the gaming sector expands, Bitkraft Ventures stands at the forefront of this transformation. The firm is committed to driving innovation and fostering the next-gen player experiences. This funding round represents a huge step forward in Bitkraft's mission.
