After launching on the Epic Games Store with 1 million in $FURY rewards last week, Engines of Fury (EoF) now has a special Halloween event for anyone to jump into and play to earn various rewards in: Engiens of Spooky.

What Is Engines of Fury?

Engines of Fury is a blockchain-based PvPvE extraction shooter available as a free to play title on the Epic Games Store. Set within a post-apocalyptic world, players explore ruined industrial zones, collect loot, and attempt to extract from maps without dying. Those who fail lose their entire inventory, which becomes available for others to claim.

Combat takes place from a top-down perspective in real time, with players relying on limited visibility, sound cues, and mini-map indicators to locate enemies and avoid ambushes. The main objective in every match is to scavenge materials, fight off mutated monsters or rival players, and successfully extract with the collected resources. Surviving a raid allows players to return to their hideout, where they can store or use the materials gathered.

Each match begins with players dropping into large maps such as Fairwater or Cliffside, positioned far apart to minimize early encounters. As the match progresses, players naturally converge on valuable loot zones and extraction points, increasing the likelihood of confrontation. The risk of losing gear upon death makes each decision important, rewarding cautious and tactical gameplay.

Engines of Fury also includes a dual-resource system in which players earn ALLOY during missions, which can be exchanged for the main token, $FURY, at a variable rate that initially started at 1:1. $FURY can then be used for progression, in-game purchases, or future marketplace transactions.

Since October 2024, Engines of Fury has undergone three closed playtests: The Antigen, Cliffside, and The Infection, each offering $FURY and NFT rewards to participants. The public release marks the beginning of Season 2, with live events, competitive leaderboards, and in-game prize pools to play and earn. This time around, it’s of course a spooky event.

How Does the Engines of Spooky Halloween Event Work?

The Halloween event, titled Engines of Spooky, takes place from October 29 to November 6, 1 PM UTC. During this period, the in-game city of Stoneport becomes the site of a limited time event featuring special Halloween-themed enemies.

The event introduces new pumpkin-like creatures that appear across Fairwater and Cliffside maps. Players must locate and defeat these creatures to collect Jack-o’-lanterns, a temporary event resource. Each pumpkin can drop between 1 and 4 Jack-o’-lanterns when destroyed. These items must then be safely extracted and stored in the player’s hideout stash, as only Jack-o’-lanterns successfully stored count toward the event leaderboard.

The leaderboard ranks players based on the total number of Jack-o’-lanterns in their stash. Those who collect the most during the event period will receive exclusive rewards in the form of NFTs or in-game items. The top 30 players will be eligible for rewards divided into the following manner:

Participation in the event requires an updated version of EoF installed via the Epic Games Launcher. Players who already have the game will need to update to the latest build before joining the event. Once updated, they can enter matches, locate the pumpkin creatures, and begin collecting Jack-o’-lanterns.

Pumpkins react dynamically to combat. When attacked, they attempt to flee, and if their health becomes too low, they may turn hostile and attack. Defeating them quickly and efficiently becomes key to maximizing the number of Jack-o’-lanterns collected. Because only extracted loot counts toward the leaderboard, players must manage their time carefully and avoid being eliminated before extraction.

The in-game environment has been expectedly visually modified for the Halloween event, with darker tones, ambient lighting, and seasonal effects across the maps. Here’s how you can jump in while time remains.

How to Play and Earn in Engines of Fury’s Special Halloween Event

To participate in the Engines of Spooky Halloween event download Engines of Fury for free from the Epic Games Store, and simply start playing and hunting pumpkin creatures to collect Jack-o’-Lanterns and climb the leaderboard from October 29 to November 6, 1 PM UTC.

These spider-like pumpkin enemies can be found spawning randomly across different areas of Fairwater and Cliffside maps, dropping up to 5 Jack-o’-lanterns when defeated. Collect as many Jack-o’-Lanterns as you can on your run and get them safely extracted back to your Hideout to have them stored in your stash, making them officially count towards your leaderboard ranking. If a player is eliminated before reaching extraction, all carried items are lost and can be looted by others.

Whether this is your first time jumping in or are a new player, the Halloween event serves both as a seasonal activity and a nice introduction to Engines of Fury’s ongoing event system, allowing players to experience the game’s extraction mechanics while competing for limited rewards. Because leaderboard placement depends entirely on in-game performance, players can progress without any external purchases or advantages, making this a proper free to play event to try and play and earn in.

The Engines of Spooky event represents the game’s first major themed activity since its public launch, so if you like Halloween events or enjoy top-down shooters, or both, then it’s best to start playing as soon as possible to increase your chances of topping the leaderboard before the event concludes on November 6, after which rewards will be distributed to qualified players based on final rankings.
