At some point in January 2025, whitelisted users will be able to join the Cliffside playtest for top-down extraction shooter Engines of Fury, during which you will even be able to earn $FURY tokens as rewards. Here’s everything we know so far and what you can do to join the whitelist.
Next to $FURY rewards, the January playtest will introduce special limited NFT collection rewards and on-chain quests, with the game set to be powered by Immutable Passport, enabling the team to deliver an accessible blockchain gaming experience, even for gamers not used to dabbling in web3. By opting to use IMX Passport, players will enjoy non-custodial wallet creation and a seamless sign-in process, while also powering the ability to mint NFTs. Considering the mention of an NFT collection, it does look like the testing session will allow you to mint various NFTs to truly own the assets you choose to play with in-game. Through the use of this user-friendly tech, players are said to be able to easily and securely jump in the web3 game and access the rewards it has ready to drop to the best gamers.
According to the gameplay trailer in the official announcement tweet, participants will get to blast their way through a new mission in which you work together to infiltrate Air Force Base 42. Set in a dangerous post-apocalyptic wasteland, it looks like you will have a limited amount of time to complete the mission and successfully extract alive by heading to an extraction point with all your collected loot. As you do so, you’ll experience day & night gameplay in which you shoot down loads of different monsters using your primary and secondary weapon while strategically activating various abilities at the right moments to your advantage.
As you play through this Act II of Season 1, you will be able to gather a variety of materials that you can use to craft weapons, armor, and possibly more, giving players room to customize their characters and create builds suited to their desired playstyles. You might also get to level up your character and gain points to allocate to various attributes such as Strength and Agility, further improving your build to make it even stronger for the next run.
Details on the prize pool were not given at the time of writing. We know that it will be possible to earn $FURY tokens, but the exact quantity up for grabs is not yet known. Back in October, the developers hosted The Antigen closed playtest, during which there was 25k $FURY tokens allocated for the top 50 players. Perhaps we can expect something similar this time around as well, or possibly a bigger pool than ever before.
The playtest is set to take place on the Epic Games Store. Here’s what you can do to sign up for this phase and possibly win a whitelist spot to participate.
If you like extraction shooters and chaotic co-op games played from a top-down perspective, then you could end up having a great time playing this upcoming blockchain game. While the official launch will be in the form of a free to play title, if you want to jump in early, contribute to the game’s development and play to earn $FURY tokens, then you should probably sign up for this whitelist for a potential chance of playing at some point during the first month of 2025.
You can sign up for this playtest event through this official application form, which is also linked in the team’s X post. The form asks for your first and last name, email address, Binance Smart Chain (BSC) wallet address, age range, and more. If you happen to have won a guaranteed access code from an official giveaway, you will get the option to add it to the form, confirming your participation in this upcoming playtest event.
If you end up getting whitelisted, you will be able to join in on the playtest for free through the Epic Games Store, the same platform on which Engines of Fury is set to officially launch in the first half of 2025. Next to the playtest and official release, the developers have various other plans for H1 2025, including the integration of a blockchain-powered game economy, the introduction of a $FURY token bridge to Immutable, the start of an NFT sale, esports tournament, and more.
