Top-down extraction shooter Engines of Fury is opening its doors to a limited number of players once again, this time with The Infection, the third and final Act of Season 1 in which players can play to earn $FURY and Gen-0 NFTs. Here are the new additions included in Act 3 as well as details on how you can sign up to potentially be chosen to participate.
The Infection, or Season 1: Act 3 of Engines of Fury, is the final opportunity to play to earn in the web3 game’s first season through the Epic Games Store. Running from April 29th to May 4th, eligible players will be able to enjoy a variety of new features while competing for $FURY and NFT rewards.
For this closed release, players will actually be able to play together for the first time ever, thanks to the introduction of co-op mode. If you’ve been wanting to play this game together with your friends instead of blasting enemies solo, it looks like you will now finally be able to enjoy some action-packed mayhem as a proper team. It’s not specifically stated if this multiplayer mode brings any other significant gameplay changes, such as whether enemies will be more challenging to take out based on the number of players fighting together, but you can likely expect some scaling to be in place for a fair but intense blockchain gaming experience.
To make it easier for players to strategize as a team in co-op mode (or easier to sabotage each other), this final act also brings with it a voice chat feature, making it easy to communicate with your fellow teammates.
Last but not least, Act 3 will feature upgraded raiding zones, giving players more dangerous areas to battle through, and of course, more rewards the higher the risk involved. This likely means that players will be more encouraged to play in co-op in order to stand a chance at beating The Infection in these overhauled zones.
When it comes to the prize pool, just like with the Cliffside January playtest, this latest iteration also features a 100k $FURY token reward pool up for grabs (around $3167 at the time of writing), alongside an unspecified number of “ultra-rare” Gen-0 NFTs.
If you want to participate in the Engines of Fury: The Infection tournament, you will have to fill out the form linked in the official X announcement for a chance at gaining access.
The application process requires you to fill out your name, e-mail address, age range, location, Discord username, X/Twitter handle, Epic Games ID, and an access code if you played in a previous Act. It also asks if you have Windows, as that is the OS you need to participate. While the game’s store page seems to list MacOS as a supported platform, that likely only applies for a later release or official launch.
With the form filled, you’re placed on the whitelist, giving you a chance to potentially be selected to participate and compete for rewards. If you’re chosen, you should end up receiving an access key code that you can redeem on the Epic Games Store, placing the game in your library to let you download and start playing. It’s not clear how many players are the developers accepting for this last Act, nor is there an exact deadline to sign up, so make sure to apply for access as soon as possible before the tournament officially begins on April 29th.
In the meantime, you can also wishlist Engines of Fury on the Epic Games Store before it eventually launches into early access. Here are the system requirements from the official store page for this Immutable and BNB Chain-powered title:
