Metarush, a party racing royale similar to Fall Guys, has officially been listed on Web3 native game store HyperPlay ahead of the game’s public beta launch on both the MetaMask-integrated platform and the Epic Games Store.

What This Listing Brings

By getting the multiplayer title listed on this blockchain gaming-focused, Square Enix-backed platform, developer Myria Studios is helping garner more visibility in the Web3 space while providing gamers the option to choose whether they’d prefer to play on a Web2 or Web3 game launcher.

Next to attracting more eyes from crypto gaming enthusiasts, the listing will also allow the studio to set up private play sessions and game nights that are all set to take place before the chaotic 3D racing platformer launches in beta for everyone to enjoy likely in September this year. You’ll probably want to head to the game’s Discord server to be the first to know when such private gaming events may take place.

Recent Development Updates

After hosting an alpha playtest in March this year, and then another in April thanks to the community’s fantastic support, the developers have continued improving the Myria-powered title and preparing it for the bigger beta launch when everyone will be able to download it on Windows PCs from the two previously mentioned launchers.

During these past few months, the team has continued publishing monthly recaps to keep the community informed on the latest development updates.

April Updates

In the April recap, it was revealed that controller support, one of the most common requests by the community, has been officially included in the game, so we can likely expect to see this support included in the upcoming free to play version. There was also a new outfit added to the game, alongside new animations and visual effects, while one of the game’s maps has been reworked with new level design and some new art, so if you participated in the alpha then you will likely notice some improvements in Battery Outpost once the game is live again. New concept art was revealed, and a new game mode was also teased to be in development back then.

May Progress

That new game mode was then unveiled in May to be Rift League, a 5-round gauntlet where each round features a random mode and map for players to compete in, with no two modes repeating 2 rounds in a row. At the end of a round, the game will provide players with info on their round position, leaderboard position and number of points earned. While waiting for the next round to start, the leaderboard will be displayed to show player names, their rankings and total points earned by each player for the current Rift League.

The month of May also marked the listing of Metarush on the Epic Games Store, as well as the start of beta development following the end of the second alpha playtest. The developers focused on stability, bug fixing and multiplayer connectivity while working on plenty of new content, such as the new game mode, 2 new environment biomes (Jungle and Desert), more concept art, animations and visual effects. Another existing level was overhauled, while a completely new level part of the Jungle biome was teased. Two new skins were also in development, with the developers starting work on a color variation system to give players more customization options for their favorite outfit skins. The studio also introduced game missions, revealing that there will be daily quests to complete to reward players and further keep them engaged in the Web3 gaming experience. Integration of Web3 functionality has finally started to take place, though no specific features were mentioned in that monthly recap.

June Dev Highlights

The latest monthly development update post is of course for June. For this past month, the team worked on in-game customization in the form of player profile avatars and player titles to give the community more ways to express themselves, while improving the UI for racing and survival modes, though some more work may still be made before they get to the final iteration. Further adding to customization is the ability to change emissive shaders of the materials found on parts of in-game characters, meaning you can change how your character glows.

More unspecified gameplay and economy features are undergoing final implementation, which also means that new animations and sound effects have been added accordingly, including new animations for player character models as well as a second new smash animation that has a random chance of activating when attacking your opponent.

A friendly new companion called Ace the Robot has been introduced to the game. This cute floating in-game assistant counts down the start of a race while telling you if you’ve passed through a checkpoint. It probably also lets you know how much time’s left before you can respawn again.

The 2 new environment biomes that were worked on in May, Jungle and Biome, have officially been integrated into the game, with the biomes said to have significant differences that you’ll notice as you play, “especially when you’re playing Rift League!”

Plenty of maps have been updated with new art that is said to give them a unique feel. Next to the above image, you can find more cool screenshots as well as more details on work done last month in the official recap post.
