STEPN is built around an essential daily activity for most people – moving around. We are the first project to effectively bring to life a functioning move&earn concept, finishing 4th out of 500+ projects at the Solana Ignition Hackathon 2021.
Users equip themselves with NFTs in the form of Sneakers. By walking, jogging, or running outdoors, users will earn game currency, which can either be used in-game, or cashed out for profit.
With Game-Fi, STEPN aims to nudge millions toward a healthier lifestyle, combat climate change and connect the public to Web 3.0, all while simultaneously hinging on it’s Social-Fi aspect to build a long-lasting platform fostering user generated Web 3.0 content.

STEPN is a Web3 move-to-earn (M2E) lifestyle app that rewards users for physical activity such as walking, jogging, and running outdoors. It combines fitness, NFTs, and blockchain by tracking movement through GPS and rewarding users with in-app crypto tokens. STEPN was developed by Find Satoshi Lab (FSL) and finished among the top projects at the Solana Ignition Hackathon in 2021.
The STEPN app itself is free to download on iOS and Android, but it is not free to earn with. To start earning tokens, users must own at least one NFT sneaker, which is purchased from the in-app marketplace. Without a sneaker NFT, movement is not rewarded.
In STEPN, users earn by equipping an NFT sneaker and then walking, jogging, or running outdoors with GPS enabled. Movement consumes Energy, and rewards are paid in in-app tokens for each minute of activity while Energy lasts. Sneaker attributes and rarity influence how much a user can earn, and tokens can be used in-app or cashed out.
STEPN was built on the Solana blockchain and is widely known as one of the first major fitness apps on Solana. Its governance token GMT also exists on additional networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Smart Chain, and STEPN has expanded support to other chains through its multichain Realms structure.
STEPN uses a dual-token model. GST (Green Satoshi Token) is the utility token earned through movement and spent on actions like repairs and upgrades, and it has an unlimited supply. GMT (Green Metaverse Token) is the governance token with a fixed maximum supply of 6 billion, used for staking, governance, and higher-tier in-app actions. The newer STEPN GO app introduced an additional token called GGT.
STEPN is a mobile app available for both Android and iOS smartphones. Because earning relies on accurate movement tracking, a device with a reliable GPS signal is required, and activity must be done outdoors. There is no desktop or console version of STEPN.
Yes, an NFT sneaker is required to earn rewards in STEPN. Sneakers come in types such as Walker, Runner, and Trainer, each suited to different activity speeds, and they carry rarity traits and attributes that affect earning potential. Users can also mint new sneakers by combining existing ones.
STEPN is available in most regions worldwide through the App Store and Google Play. However, STEPN restricted access for users in mainland China in 2022 to comply with local regulations, disabling GPS and IP services there. STEPN GO is a newer app from Find Satoshi Lab, released in beta in 2024, that builds on the original STEPN move-to-earn concept with added game and social features. It uses FSL ID login and introduces features such as the Haus System for lending sneakers to friends, a Fitness Level mechanic, and the GGT token. It runs alongside the original STEPN app within the wider FSL ecosystem.
STEPN is an established Web3 project from Find Satoshi Lab that has operated since 2021 and has formed partnerships with brands such as adidas and Guinness World Records. It is a real, functioning app rather than a scam, but like all crypto projects it carries financial risk, since token values and NFT prices can fluctuate significantly.
