Play to earn Telegram mini-app SEED has received a strategic investment by the Sui Foundation to help turn the blockchain game into a huge web3 gaming ecosystem that is powered by Sui.
Through this official partnership, the developers of the Pokémon Go-inspired app will start using the layer 1 network and leveraging its scalability and low fees to create this blockchain’s first on-chain gaming ecosystem with 100 million users. The SEED app is already said to have over 60 million users.
The exact funding amount was not disclosed, but aside from the team’s expansion from one game to an entire platform, they will also look deliver “immersive AR gameplay” while launching the SEED Combinator Program through which they will support game developers looking to build new web3 gaming experiences for this ecosystem. There are also plans to host initiative programs within the ecosystem while both companies work together on researching fully on-chain games and creating infrastructure and advanced tools to help developers create accessible and engaging blockchain gaming experiences.
The CEO of SEED, Dees, said the following in a press release:
“By leveraging Sui’s innovative infrastructure and unmatched scalability, we are excited to co-create a self-sustaining Web3 movement that empowers developers and engages millions of users worldwide.” “At SEED, we believe in partnering with ecosystems that drive real impact. Choosing Sui as our technical backbone, with its unmatched scalability, efficiency, and developer-friendly architecture, enables us to empower builders and accelerate innovation. With Sui, we're equipped to deliver on our mission at a whole new level.”
The Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, Christian Thompson, added:
“Our partnership with SEED reflects a shared vision of leveraging blockchain technology to improve the gaming experience.”
It looks like this all also means that their flagship game is moving over from TON to Sui, with the announcement teasing a new NFT mint on their partner’s network ahead of an upcoming TGE for the $SEED token, which comes with a 1 billion supply. Those who have played the Telegram game look set to receive a token airdrop.
The SEED Combinator Program is a new accelerator program designed to help startups and teams of at least 3 developers make on-chain apps and games on the new Sui-powered ecosystem. The program is said to provide accepted applicants with funding, mentorship, and more.
Specifically, the program provides 3 key offerings to help bring your idea to life: SC Advisory, the SC Investor network, and SC Labs.
With SC Advisory, you will receive support from experienced founders, experts, and advisors in the fields of product development, business strategy, problem-solving, and market access. Applying to this program could also get you access to its large investor network to which you will be able to present your project and business plan, potentially leading to community funding but also investments from various backers, VCs, launchpads, centralized exchanges, and industry partners.
Last but not least, the SC Labs offering will get you “expert consulting on go-to-market plans and business models” from Playable Studio, the developers of Telegram mini-apps SEED and TON Kombat.
You can already apply to the accelerator program right now by heading to the official website through which you can gain access to the application form. You will have to answer a couple of questions and introduce your team, as well as share your pitch deck or whitepaper, and more.
While SEED will remain the flagship game of this ecosystem, by launching this program, the partnered sides aim to incentivize studios to build on Sui, in turn helping create and grow this new ecosystem into a massive gaming hub of diverse web3 games for everyone to enjoy.
