Pixelmon TCG is now officially live in Early Access across the Asia-Pacific region. Players in Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Australia can download the new trading card battler today from Google Play. For now, it's Android-only. Expansion to other regions and platforms will follow step by step as the team prepares for a global rollout.
While the current build is still in early access, players can already jump into battles, start building decks, and test out the game's mana system and monster evolution mechanics. The app supports in-app purchases, letting players power up using Gems, which act as the main in-game currency. Gems can be purchased directly or through the Web App using $MON. APAC players who make purchases during this period will receive a 120% rebate in Gems at the end of this phase. All progress will reset ahead of the global launch, giving everyone a fresh start.
Early Access Tournaments Incoming
Along with the current testing period, the game will also host Early Access tournaments in the coming weeks. These events will be run in partnership with select gaming guilds, though exact details have yet to be revealed. For now, this is the first chance for competitive players to get involved and showcase their deck-building and gameplay strategies.
While the current rollout targets the broader APAC market, the team is also launching a separate version for Germany. That build will go live later this week and is tied specifically to the Gamescom booth. It will be limited to a closed list of Play Store users who pre-registered their emails with the Pixelmon team. No official word yet on when that version might open up to the wider EU audience.
There's also mention of a possible launch in India soon, pending final QA checks with local testers. Until then, the current early access regions remain limited to the above APAC countries.

What Is Pixelmon TCG?
Pixelmon TCG is a competitive card game set in the fantasy world of Nova Thera. The game combines classic monster collection with tactical card battles, offering quick matches that typically last around 5 minutes. You build decks using cards grouped by elemental type or evolution chains, then face off in battles where every move costs mana and timing is key.
Each match centers around shared mana and push-pull tempo. You can spend your mana to act, attack, or evolve monsters. But if you use too much, you risk handing momentum to your opponent.
Your monsters start in their base form and can evolve mid-match into stronger versions with unique abilities. Some shoot fire or arcane blasts. Others shield allies or drain life from enemies. The twist here is that evolution is tactical, not cosmetic. When and how you evolve can change the flow of the battle.
Decks can be built around various strategies. You might focus on forest guardians with healing powers or fire-heavy cards that burn through enemy health fast. There are over 100 monsters and spells to unlock, spread across ranked, casual, and event modes.
Each card is voiced and animated, with a visual style that leans heavily into vibrant, fantasy art. From forest-born beasts to skybound dragons, cards come alive on screen with cinematic effects and magical attacks.
The game is fully free to play. Players can earn rewards through gameplay or buy player bundles with Gems.
Backed by Avalanche
This TCG release follows the larger growth of the Pixelmon brand since its relaunch under MON Protocol. In May 2025, Pixelmon announced a major partnership with Avalanche to build its growing line of mobile-first games on Avalanche's web3 infrastructure. That partnership is now taking shape, starting with the early access rollout of Pixelmon TCG.
Avalanche provides the technical backbone to support web3 ownership, scaling, and fast transactions across games. Pixelmon uses this to power a range of titles where players can own and trade digital assets such as evolved monsters, companions, and items.

Pixelmon's broader roadmap includes more than just card games. Their turn-based RPG, Warden's Ascent, is also live in beta testing, letting players explore Nova Thera with collectible monsters and story-based quests. Another game, Nova Thera Chronicles, brings idle RPG mechanics and long-form progression with monster merging and real-time battles.
Together, these titles form the foundation of a growing ecosystem, all themed around the world of Nova Thera. Pixelmon's goal is to create a connected game world that spans genres, platforms, and experiences, all backed by onchain ownership and accessible to traditional gamers.
Built for the Mobile Generation
Pixelmon's focus on Android-first development is no accident. The mobile market in APAC is one of the biggest in the world, with over half of global gaming revenue now coming from the region. By starting with Android and focusing on short-session, fast-matching gameplay, Pixelmon TCG is tailored to how players game today—on the go, with depth when they want it and simplicity when they don't.
With a 5-minute average match time and simple onboarding, the game is built to be picked up and played in quick sessions.
Where to Play
If you're in the listed APAC countries and have an Android device, you can download Pixelmon TCG right now from the Google Play Store. Just search for "Pixelmon TCG" or visit the developer page under "Mon.co" to see all active titles, including Warden's Ascent and Nova Thera Chronicles, both of which are under beta testing.
For players in other regions, stay tuned. According to the team, more regions will open soon, and the global launch is on track for later in 2025. All eyes are now on how APAC players respond during this early phase and what balance tweaks, improvements, or events might follow in the weeks ahead.
