Developer Empires Not Vampires has officially announced their very own Avalanche L1 for Paradise Tycoon and its ecosystem: Paradise Chain.
Paradise Chain is a custom gaming-focused Layer 1 network built on Avalanche and designed to power a variety of web3 games under the Paradise IP.
After working on life sim MMO Paradise Tycoon for more than 3 years and generating impressive performance throughout the game’s beta stage, the team is now looking to enter a new phase in which they can further expand their Paradise gaming ecosystem by setting up their own blockchain, their own infrastructure that is safe, scalable, and reliable for powering massive future crypto games on PC, mobile, and console, while bringing “next-gen” interoperability through overlapping features and enabling a truly player-driven economy, all of which is said to be made “specifically for the needs of live gaming and massive scalability.”
Since the beta launch of their flagship game on web browsers, Android and iOS mobile devices, there have been more than 1.2 million installs, “exceptionally strong” retention, and an astounding metric of over 100 years of cumulative playtime. Throughout this period, the studio, which has previously developed and published web2 games from 2017 to 2022, has fine-tuned their game design to work with web3 features while optimizing the onboarding experience, improving the in-game economy model, and carefully taking in feedback from their ever-growing blockchain gaming community.
Now, not only is the team further expanding its web3 gaming IP by preparing Paradise Tycoon for a Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation 2025 launch in partnership with a web2 publisher, but they’re also introducing their very own chain for both its flagship game and all other titles set in the same universe, which could include titles developed in-house, but also third-party games made by other studios that are looking to become a part of this growing ecosystem.
“Paradise Chain is the next step in our journey with next-generation interoperability through shared gameplay layers, metalayers, and a truly player-driven economy!”
When it comes to the specific features of Paradise Chain, this L1 is uniquely designed to allow players to naturally generate on-chain activity in a safe and reliable way while making the blockchain tech side of things completely invisible to ensure a seamless gameplay experience. For gamers, it will feel like jumping into any other web2 game, and it won’t be necessary to know anything about crypto to enjoy games on this chain thanks to an accessible onboarding experience in which wallets are created automatically for each player. All of this is made possible by applying data-driven web2 user acquisition models used for “some of the most downloaded games in history” and bringing them to web3 by having every new player contribute to the blockchain in a way that doesn’t detract from actual gameplay.
Every game on Paradise Chain is set to be connected through shared gameplay layers referred to as “metalayers”. This means that the item you craft or upgrade in one game can actually be used in another title in similar or perhaps new ways. We recently got to see a practical example of this in action when Paradise Tycoon introduced their new game, Paradise Legends, as an in-game event.
Players can easily become a part of the $MOANI-powered economy as they enjoy the game, craft, trade, earn, and spend on various items, with all these actions fueling “the value of $MOANI” and driving demand across the whole network. The chain is said to be optimized for live ops, with transactions able to be processed in the background for a seamless gaming experience that feels like traditional gaming but comes with the added benefit of true on-chain ownership.
“The result is a powerful flywheel: cost-efficient, low-friction entry, real in-game value, and a growing, interconnected economy built by the players themselves.”
The $MOANI token is the native ecosystem token of Paradise Chain. Many gameplay activities are connected to it, so the more games and experiences there are on this network, the more utility there is for the upcoming token. The developers have chosen Avalanche C-Chain for the $MOANI token launch, and players have so far been able to use an in-game version of the token, which has seen significant organic traction as more than 5 million trades have taken place in Paradise Tycoon to date, and over 65% airdropped tokens have supposedly been used on in-game purchases that involved items, customization, and upgrades. The TGE date for $MOANI does not seem to be known at the time of writing.
Overall, these are the core features of Paradise Chain:
Anyone interested in supporting the network and its economy can look forward to an opportunity to acquire Paradise Chain validator licenses at some point in the future.
For now, we know that Paradise Tycoon and Paradise Legends are some of the games coming to Paradise Chain this year. Paradise Legends is planned to become a standalone game in Q3 2025 in the form of a full beta launch, so that likely means we’ll see it live on the new chain as well. The developers have also teased that a 3rd unannounced game is coming to this L1 at some point in 2026 in alpha.
Any other web3 game developer interested in building on Paradise Chain is encouraged to contact the team to get started. More announcements on this new gaming network are planned to take place before this year’s Avalanche Summit begins on May 20th.
