Well, here’s something you don’t see every day, if ever: Paradise Tycoon developer Empires Not Vampires has introduced a prototype of a new web3 game called Paradise Legends, but in the form of an in-game event in their existing flagship title. So, if you’re already playing the cozy life sim, you can try out the studio’s second game right inside the browser-based blockchain game. Neat! Let’s check it out.
Paradise Legends is a new action arcade RPG set in the Paradise ecosystem. It’s the second game to use the IP, expanding the universe with fast-paced gameplay, a “deep metagame layer,” and proper interoperability with Paradise Tycoon.
It’s playable in the form of a prototype that anyone can try out for free as an in-game event in Paradise Tycoon. Across multiple development rounds, players will get to experience wave-based action in which waves of different monsters have to be defeated in order to earn points to rank up a competitive leaderboard for potential rewards. If you can defeat the most number of monsters in a single attempt, you could end up winning $MOANI tokens, NFTs, and potentially other cool prizes.
Before you jump into the arena, you get to pick your loadout of weapons and consumables. In this case, weapons represent certain tools you’ve crafted from the main game, such as pickaxes, axes, and scythes, while consumables include health potions and speed boosts. Basically, some of the items and consumables you have from the flagship title can be used in this game, so make sure to bring your strongest equipment with you for a better chance of withstanding the continuous monster invasion. You can put up to 5 different items to your loadout. Once you enter the arena, you can no longer access your primary inventory, but can only use the items you added to the loadout instead, so make sure to prepare accordingly.
The metagame layer of this action RPG is set to live inside the browser-based life sim. It consists of crafting and upgrading weapons, mixing consumables, and trading at the Auction House, with $MOANI powering the player-driven economy of both games. Essentially, even when this does end up becoming a separate game under the same IP, you can still expect to see true interoperability take place across both titles. This means that the crafted items you create in one game, such as tools and consumables, will also have utility in the other game, with $MOANI at the core of this expanding web3 gaming ecosystem.
The reason why the developers have chosen to release the prototype as an in-game event is so that they can gather feedback from the existing playerbase and thus be able to quickly iterate on features with community involvement while making use of the metagame layer found in their existing game.
According to the official Medium post, Paradise Legends is planned to become a standalone game at some point in Q3 2025, when the full beta launch is set to take place. The beta release will be fully powered by the $MOANI token and is set to provide even “deeper interoperability” between the two games.
In the meantime, if you want to try out the evolving prototype inside Paradise Tycoon and perhaps win some rewards, then here’s how you can do so!
When the in-game event is active, you can play Paradise Legends by opening Paradise Tycoon on your web browser or mobile device, and then clicking on the big arena button located in the top right corner of the game’s main opening screen. From there you will be able to set up your loadout and see the leaderboards before starting your attempt.
Development of this prototype is taking place across 4 different rounds. The first round ran from April 25th to May 2nd, and allowed players to use pickaxes, axes, and scythes as weapons for fighting waves of different monsters, with rarity affecting the power and speed of weapons. A recap of round 1 has been officially posted if you’d like to see some fun stats.
As of writing, there is no official starting date for Round 2, nor do we know how long it will be. When it does go live, you can expect big upgrades to the event. These updates look set to introduce new health potion recipes, a new AOE monster, as well as new weapon types and monster resistances, while putting a bigger emphasis on tactics and inventory management. Just like in the first round, this second one should also include leaderboard-based rewards.
Round 3 and 4 are set to depend a lot on community feedback, as your ideas “will directly define future gameplay improvements.”
If you missed out on the first round, then you may want to look forward to Round 2, and if you’re new to Paradise Tycoon, then now could be the right time to jump in and prepare for the new round. You can access the free to play title on PC via a web browser, or download it on an Android or iOS device through the Play Store or App Store respectively.
Earlier this year, Paradise Tycoon announced a Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation 2025 launch, while choosing Avalanche for the $MOANI token launch.
