Illuvium players may want to sign up for the newly announced official Test Tournament before it kicks off on July 5 to mark the start of Competitive Season 1.
The Test Tournament is an official 32-player test event for Competitive Season 1, designed to simulate the structure of upcoming competitions and give players an opportunity to provide their input in order for the developers to further refine the competitive format before they launch future events that award points for the Illuvium World Championship.
This tournament starts on Saturday, July 5 at 3 PM UTC and features a 100 $ILV prize pool (currently around ~$1040 worth of tokens) for the top 16 players, with reward distribution looking as follows:
The event uses a battle royale bracket type with no teams. All 32 participants play a Best of 2 to determine who goes into the Semi Finals, where 16 players also play a Best of 2. Half of the players will progress to the Grand FInals, where the 8 best contestants face off in a Best of 3. This whole tournament is set to run for around 7 hours, with the Final showdown set to be livestreamed on the game’s official Twitch channel.
Anyone is welcome to sign up to this auto-battler tournament regardless of skill level, with non-pro players in fact “encouraged” to participate. Here’s how!
You can participate for a chance to earn in Illuvium’s Test Tournament by signing up through the official event page on the Community Gaming esports platform.
Participation slots are however limited to only 32 players, so if the limit has been reached, you can still sign up to be put on a waitlist for a potential chance of competing in case someone chooses to drop out or fails to check-in on time. All skill levels are welcome, and those who do successfully take up a slot can look forward to participating on July 5 at 3 PM UTC. Players from any region are allowed to participate, and those who make it through all rounds can expect this to last for around 7 hours. Check-in opens an hour before the competition starts, and participants will need to make sure to complete the check-in process before the tournament begins in order to participate. After checking in, make sure to join the voice chat in Illuvium’s official Discord server in order to properly play in this test event. The link to their Discord is included in the tournament page.
If you make it past the first stage, where 32 players compete in a Best of 2, you’ve already qualified for a share of the 100 $ILV prize pool.
“This Test Tournament is designed for community participation – non-pro players are welcome and encouraged. With 50% of players earning rewards and multiple matches guaranteed, this is your chance to prove your strategy and compete for glory.”
Whether you’ve played Illuvium before or not, if you like auto-battler games, then you should certainly give this event a try.
Full details on the structure of Competitive Season 1 are planned to be revealed shortly after end of the Test Tournament, while the World Championship Event is scheduled to take place at some point at the end of this year.
By participating in this weekend’s test event, you’ll be helping the Illuvium team refine their tournament structure in preparation for future competitive events that will award tournament points. These tournament points, together with ranked leaderboard points, will be important for determining who qualifies for the World Championship. In one way, taking part in this test event can also serve as a warmup to help you prepare for the bigger tournaments.
The World Championship Event will take up most of the competitive prize pool for this year. In order to qualify, you will need to earn points by competing in upcoming Minor and Major Tournaments, each of which will have varying prize pools that are determined on a case-by-case basis, “depending on token price fluctuations” and factors such as the number of participants.
