Anime gaming ecosystem Avarik Saga has partnered with the well-known Base-powered Virtuals Protocol, bringing the $AVRK token to the AI-focused platform to start creating streamer-like AI agents.
What Benefits Does the Avarik Saga x Virtuals Partnership Bring?
This partnership makes the blockchain gaming ecosystem the “flagship ANIME X GAMING X AI powerhouse” for Virtuals, according to the announcement. It also marks the start of creating the first AI agents for the web3 gaming platform, and the launch of $AVRK on Base, after previously being tradable on Arbitrum using Uniswap V3. The $AVRK token on Virtuals uses Uniswap V2.
Now that the token is available on a new chain through the AI platform, you can look forward to seeing and watching the anime IP have its own AI agents that can actually play and livestream games on Twitch. These will be 24/7 agentic streamers represented as anime-like characters/VTubers. Not only will you be able to watch an AI play games or stream someone else’s gaming session, but you will even get to hear the agent do real-time commentary. These AI agents won’t just be focused on the game itself though; you can even expect it to engage with the audience, reacting to the comments live from viewers in chat.
The official partnership video embedded in the announcement also shows that the developers are making LLM-powered AI agents that can act as your “personalized messenger.” This means that you will be able to chat with AI characters in the ecosystem’s upcoming flagship RPG, Red Covenant, conversing on various topics related to the game’s narrative and your interactions in its anime fantasy world.
Details on when these AI-powered gaming streamers go live are unknown at the time of writing. We don’t know which games can these AI agents play either. However, the developers have showcased the AI commentating on Dota 2, specifically the Dota 2 Grand Finals 2024. More will be revealed over time, but if you’re interested in the fusion of AI agents with gaming, and seeing what it’s like to have AI agents play alongside real players, then you might want to keep an eye out on this one. You might also want to look forward to the team’s flagship game, Red Covenant, which these AI agents will also possibly play, stream, and commentate on Twitch.

What Is Avarik Saga: Red Covenant?
Avarik Saga: Red Covenant is the ecosystem’s main and upcoming mobile RPG, in development in Unity and coming soon to Android and iOS on the Play Store and App Store respectively. This will be a free to play JRPG that will feature AI-powered LLM characters to interact with on your journey in the beautiful world of Forsakens. As you progress through rich lore involving blood magic and dark witchcraft, you will create a team of anime demi-goddesses referred to as the Forsaken, who will explore and battle alongside you as you engage in real-time isometric strategic gameplay, using various different abilities to take down any enemies standing in your way. You will even be able to converse with these in-game characters through messaging apps such as Telegram, according to the whitepaper. By chatting with your teammates, you’re not just passing the time with random conversations, but you also get to bond with these characters and even unlock new content along the way, making potentially for a more immersive and personalized blockchain gaming experience.
Last year, Avarik Saga unveiled Red Covenant and allowed players to play to earn $AVRK tokens through a play to airdrop campaign. A beta launch is planned to take place this Q1 2025 on both prominent mobile app stores, possibly this January.
Recently, Illuvium joined forces with Virtuals to transform NPCs in web3 gaming.
