Phase 2: Next Frontiers will be released over the coming months in parts. The first release was on June 16th, and brought level 8 HQs to the game, as well as Traps! At the moment, players have two Trap options, the Explosive Mine and the Flying Bomb. These Traps will affect enemy troops that get too close.
The new release also includes a base layout editor, daily presents, daily challenges, bug fixes, and the introduction of superpowers for the hero Mira!
And while this is a pretty significant update, it is just the beginning of what the Heroes of Mavia team has planned. So let's get to the rest!
Ruby and MAVIA Tokens
Ruby, the in-game currency for Heroes of Mavia, sees a number of new features on the horizon. These include Ruby Scan, a utility that will let anyone see any Ruby transaction, much like a regular blockchain explorer. This may seem like a weird feature for an in-game only currency, but Ruby does interact with the blockchain when players purchase NFTs, and the blockchain integrations will increase significantly in the future!
For one, players will be able to use Ruby tokens on the upcoming web marketplace. This marketplace will be a player-based economy, allowing players to buy and sell legendary item NFTs for both Ruby and MAVIA tokens. This marketplace will charge a 2.5% transaction fee, with much of that going to reward liquidity providers.
Heroes of Mavia will offer a liquidity pool where users can deposit MAVIA tokens to earn more MAVIA from the marketplace fees. The LP will have backend functionality that converts MAVIA tokens into Ruby and NFTs as needed. But users will only need to deposit MAVIA to participate.
Want to earn some MAVIA? Ruby Staking will be an option!. Earn Ruby just by playing the game. And then lockup Ruby tokens for fixed periods to earn MAVIA tokens.
Additionally, the Mavia team plans to build a token swap feature. Here, players can convert their Ruby to MAVIA, and vice-versa, making for easy transference of value between the game and the blockchain.

Land NFTs
Expect to see Land NFTs integrated into the game as well. Soon, land holders will be able to bridge their Land NFTs from Ethereum onto Base, where they can be bought, sold, and rented on the Mavia marketplace for MAVIA or Ruby tokens.
Land owners will also need to bridge their NFTs to Base in order to use them in-game. Owning a land NFT will let players earn more daily Ruby tokens, put them on a whitelist for crafting certain NFTs, offer free tournament entries, and more!
Heroes of Mavia land NFTs currently have a floor price of 0.175 ETH on OpenSea.

PvP Contests and Royalties for First Minters
And there is even more planned!
Real-time PvP battles will be seen in Mavia soon as well. These will be a PvE race. Both players will be presented with the same random base to attack and the same random selection of troops to use. Whoever can do three stars worth of damage first wins. If time runs out (players get three minutes for their assault), then whoever did the most damage wins.
In order to enter these competitions, players must pay a Ruby fee. The winner of the battle receives the entry fees from both players, minus a 5% fee, which is burned.
There will be an option for Alliance based PvP battles, funded from the Alliance coffers.
This new combat feature not only gives the players something new to do, but it also creates demand for Ruby, and functions as a token sink via the burned tokens. I think a lot of players will be looking forward to this feature!
Heroes of Mavia also plans to offer ongoing royalties for players who are the first to mint new legendary items. We don't have any details about how this will work, but it is an intriguing concept!
We don't have a specific timeline for any of these features, but these all seem to be moves in the right direction for this base building game. I'm looking forward to seeing them all live!
