The 1st private playtest for farming life sim BeraTone is now live for eligible players, kicking off the game’s multi-phase Play2Earn Campaign. Here’s what’s included in this test phase and how you can jump in to play to earn for various rewards.
The 1st private playtest is an early pre-alpha demo version of BeraTone that gives you a glimpse of what the full web3 game might look like while allowing you to contribute with constructive feedback to help the developers create a polished and engaging blockchain gaming experience. As you do so, you also have a chance to play and earn rewards and exclusive perks.
In terms of gameplay features, this playtest lets players explore a charming and cozy 3D area called Bera Island. It consists of a number of different NPCs that you can interact with, as well as various quests to complete while enjoying a social MMO world in which you can chat and team up with other players.
As you take on quests and hangout with playtesters, you will get to experience relaxing life sim gameplay in which you play as a bear in third-person view and go on gathering resources such as wood, ore, and seashells. As you chop, mine, and collect these resources, you will also craft a variety of different items to help you complete quests and gear up for combat against slime enemies. The resources you collect can be sold to earn an in-game currency, which you will want to get if you want to buy upgraded gear.
Outside of the combat system, you will also experience Mario-style platforming challenges in which you scale cliffs and jump your way past gaps to explore and reach various parts of the island. Exploration is further encouraged with collectibles called Honeyblobs that are hidden throughout the island, incentivizing players to explore every nook and cranny to uncover these rare collectibles.
As this is an early demo, all features and everything included is still subject to change for the official release. With this playtest launch however, the developers have officially kicked off their multi-phase Play2Earn campaign, giving players an opportunity to earn a RFA airdrop allocation by completing various different quests. That being said, this campaign is made possible thanks to the team receiving an RFA allocation from the Berachain Foundation as part of Berachain’s “Request for Broposal” (RFB) program, meaning that participants of this playtest and campaign have a chance of earning $BERA tokens.
The playtest began on April 14th and gives eligible participants a couple of weeks to participate and earn prizes. No specific end date has been announced at the time of writing. Here is how you can participate!
To play to earn in the game’s 1st private playtest, you will need to be a BeraTone Founder's Sailcloth NFT holder. The Founder’s Sailcloth NFT can be found on the Ethereum network via OpenSea for the floor price of 0.3706 ETH at the time of writing.
Becoming a Founder’s Sailcloth NFT holder will allow you to access this private playtest and allow you to claim the Diamond Pows role in the game’s official Discord server. With the exclusive Discord role, you will gain access to holder-only chats, regular giveaways, and even a free mint for the game’s upcoming BeraToners NFT collection, which is planned to be minted soon on Berachain. Holders can also look forward to in-game perks such as free item drops, daily EXP buff, stat upgrades, more inventory space, marketplace discounts/fee reduction, lottery tickets, lower housing demolition/relocation fees, and possibly more in the future.
If you own the Founder’s Sailcloth NFT, you are eligible to participate in this closed playtest. To do so, you will need to download BeraTone on either Windows or MacOS by heading to the game’s official itch.io page. Once you download the game, you will have to connect your wallet holding the required NFT in order to start playing.
Eventually though, this web3 game will be free to play. There will also be more playtests rolling out in phases, with each new test session adding in more new mechanics that players “can expect in the released game,” according to the FAQ section of the game’s official Discord server. It’s not clear whether future playtests will also be for NFT holders only, or if there will eventually be one that’s open for all to play and earn in.
Earlier this year, BeraTone raised $2 million in a seed round to develop the blockchain-powered life sim MMO.
