Ahead of upcoming Season 5, the developers of Fantasy Top have announced the introduction of a major new League update that is said to represent the game’s “boldest gameplay update yet.”
What’s New in the Latest League Update for Fantasy Top Season 5?
The latest League update that players will see go live in Season 5 of Fantasy Top brings with it the launch of the Platinum League, new game modes, and overhauled reward structures for an even more engaging blockchain gaming experience to enjoy as you build your fantasy team of your favorite X influencer degens.
From S5 and onwards, it looks like the team plans on having 6 ETH added per season for players to play and earn for, with 100k Fragments to the Burn Wave Leaderboard included for the top 100 burners each season. Add to all that some new game modes coming “very soon” and more sponsored rewards from “leading projects and protocols,” and it seems that this browser-based game will start to have even more ways to win varied rewards than it ever has before.
Before we go into details, here’s the official summary of this big update:
- New league added: Platinum League
- ETH rewards: +5%
- FAN points: +9%
- Fragments emissions: -10%
- ITM ranks rebalanced across leagues (~50% FAN, ~30% Fragments, ~10% ETH)
- Reduced star caps
- Higher leagues feature top-heavy rewards
- Elite League renamed to “Diamond League”
- Bronze League rewards buff
- Reverse League ETH removed (the league itself remains open for “easier experimental gameplay opportunities”)
“These updates are designed to create a more balanced and competitive environment across all leagues.”
When it comes to Leagues, not only is there a new League to earn rewards in, but some changes have been made to the other Leagues as well.
The Elite League will now be known as the Diamond League, the highest level of competition that is said to introduce a “sharper competitive edge” with a “top-heavy” rewards structure where 1st place gets to win 1 ETH. The top 99 participants can also win ETH from a lowered prize pool of 6.20 ETH, while the top 799 are eligible for Fragments and FAN points. No Common cards are allowed here, while the salary cap on Stars is unlimited, so you can use any card that you want, as long as they’re not of Common rarity.
A step below this ladder is the new Platinum League. Sitting between Gold and Diamond, it’s designed to help new players climb to the highest league while also featuring a top-heavy rewards structure, except the winner here gets 0.4 ETH instead. When it comes to card usage, you can use only 3 Epics and 1 Legendary card, with no limit for other rarities and the salary cap set to a maximum of 25 Stars. The top 999 earn Fragments and FAN points, while 199 players win a share of this league’s 4.20 ETH prize pool.

The Gold League uses the same type of rewards structure, with 0.3 ETH going to the highest-ranked player, while the total prize pool is 4.20 ETH for the top 249 players. The top 1499 get to earn Fragments and FAN points. 2 Epic cards are allowed with a maximum salary cap of 23 Stars.
The Silver League uses a balanced rewards structure, with the top 2499 receiving Fragments and FAN, while the top 299 walk away with a share of 3.20 ETH, with the winner earning 0.25 ETH. 3 Rare cards are allowed here with a salary cap of 21 Stars.
The Bronze League has been given a boosted rewards pool and a flat reward structure, with Fragments and FAN up for grabs for the top 5999 players, while the top 399 get to win a share of the increased 3.20 ETH prize pool. The player that ranks 1st snags 0.18 ETH, while competition rules state that only 5 Commons are allowed with a salary cap of 17 Stars.
While the Bronze League gets boosted rewards, the lowest level in the game, that is the Reverse League, gets ETH removed from its prize pool entirely, putting the focus on Fragments and FAN instead for the top 2499 players to earn. You are allowed to use 5 Commons, 1 Rare, 1 Epic, and 1 Legendary card in this one, and the salary cap requires players to have a minimum of 17 Stars in their team overall instead of dealing with a maximum limit.
These updates are being introduced thanks to data from the past few seasons “and direct feedback from the community,” with the aim of increasing competition and better aligning with the what the current playerbase is looking for.
“This strengthened foundation will provide more flexibility as we expand to additional game modes and mechanics in the future.”
Details on the additional game modes were not mentioned, and the starting date for Season 5 does not seem to have been revealed at the time of writing.
How to Play and Earn in Fantasy Top
To play and earn in Fantasy Top, players build a deck of five cards, each representing a crypto influencer from X. With this deck, it’s possible to enter seasonal leagues, which run weekly and feature prize pools distributed according to specific rules. Restrictions may apply, such as limiting the number of Epic cards or requiring decks to meet Star limits. Stars determine a card’s strength, and card Star values are updated weekly.
Leagues vary in scale and prize distribution. In Season 4, which started in August with 5 new Heroes and does seem to be still ongoing, players could register across five leagues, with Season 5 set to feature 6 leagues instead. Each league distributes rewards that include ETH, FAN points, and Fragments, though ETH is no longer included in the lowest level that is the Reverse League from S5 and onwards. FAN points serve as in-game governance currency for voting and influencing decisions, while Fragments are a premium currency used to purchase card packs in the shop. Fragments can be purchased directly with ETH on Base.
Card performance is tied to activity on X. Each influencer’s card score reflects their engagement and crypto-related output on the platform, with rarity offering a scoring boost. Players compete in leaderboards for higher placements and greater rewards.
For those not ready to enter the on-chain Core version, Fantasy Top also offers a free to play mode. The F2P edition allows players to build a deck of non-NFT Heroes, complete weekly quests, spin wheels for new cards, and join 24-hour tournaments that yield XP and card chests. Accumulating XP unlocks access to higher leagues with stronger rewards.
Fantasy Top is playable through its official website on both PC and mobile browsers. Back in July, the game migrated to the Base network, while last month saw the Fantasy Top team up with ZED Champions for a $15k tournament.
