The Sandbox has released a Halloween Game Jam as part of the latest updates to its gameplay. Registration is open and will run till November 12. The full theme will be unveiled on the 13th.
Registration requires a no-code Game Maker software to make the game, and it's available for free downloads.
The VoxEdit software for making a custom asset is also available for free download. They will get a separate version of the Game Maker in the email on November 13, which they must install and use to build the game.
Via a post, the platform said,
“The Sandbox Game Jams are creator contests open to anyone who is passionate about creating games! We invite you to enter our vibrant ecosystem, where creators come together to make their dreams come true and build our platform's future. Only your imagination sets the limits. Let's build the metaverse together!”
Players can get a share of the $15,000 prize pool, which is in the form of SAND, The Sandbox's native token, which they can use to buy several items in the metaverse, such as ASSETS and LAND.
There is an upcoming contest where winners will get their games published on their LAND. The first, second, and third place will receive $5000, $2500, and $1500, respectively, in SAND tokens. The 4th to 10th place will get $500 in SAND tokens. The honorable mentions will receive $250 in SAND tokens.
The registration runs from October 30, 10 am UTC, to November 12, 11:59 pm UTC.
The Game Jam will commence November 13, 10:00 am UTC, with the submission deadline as December 4, 5:00 pm UTC, and January 6, as a live awards ceremony on Twitch at 7 pm UTC. Players are encouraged to participate because they will win amazing prizes and get opportunities and accomplishments within The Sandbox's community.
Game Jams are also a great avenue to showcase game development prowess to be a renowned game designer in the ecosystem while also getting feedback and connections within the community. Players can also build their resume and show off to the world, sharpen their skills, and be part of a strong community of other creators.
