The Sandbox first opened their public alpha back in November of 2023, letting users publish their content and make it accessible to other players. Since then, over 1,000 user generated experiences have been published, millions of users have tried out the game, and SAND and NFT rewards handed out to players on a regular basis.

But for all of that, The Sandbox is still only considered to be in an alpha stage. And to help propel them forward, The Sandbox has raised 20 million dollars in additional funding, giving the platform a valuation cap of 1 billion dollars! That's a lot of metaverse!

The Sandbox team promises to continue focusing on developing and rewarding user created content, in particular, focusing on new creators through education, bootcamps, and game jams.

Build, Play, and Earn in The Sandbox

The Sandbox holds regular events, rewarding SAND tokens to players for accomplishing certain goals, or even just trying out the latest user created experiences.

And not only can players own Land plots and publish their own experiences, but they can also build, create, and sell in-game assets. This can include clothing, weapons, game props, even entire buildings! Over 11,000 unique game assets have already been created by the user base!

Additionally, The Sandbox has partnered with over 400 global brands who offer games, content, and even special avatars. These partners include Snoop Dogg, Gucci, Warner Music, and Ubisoft, just to name a few.

And though some game rewards require owning specific types of Avatars, The Sandbox itself is free to play and open to everyone. This includes their creator tools – Game Maker (used to create user experiences), and VoxEdit, used to design and build game assets.

The Sandbox expects to move into a beta phase later this year (2024) and launch a mobile version of their app in 2025.
