Directive Games' Ethereum-based hero shooter, The Machines Arena (TMA), is set to transition from closed beta to open beta next week. Thus, marking a significant milestone after a year of development. Also, the game will expand its platform availability by launching on Android mobile devices. This is alongside its existing presence on the Ethereum sidechain network Ronin.

Starting Tuesday, April 23, players can download the open beta via the Epic Games Store or directly from the TMA website for Android. With this launch, TMA will also be accessible through Mavis Hub, the launcher for the Ronin gaming network, on both PC and Android platforms. The announcement from Directive Games showed gratitude for the community's feedback during the closed beta phase. It noted that the open beta is a culmination of efforts to refine gameplay and incorporate player suggestions.

In addition to gameplay tweaks, TMA introduces a new feature called familiars, collectible companions that will assist players in battle. While specifics about how familiars function are yet to be revealed, more details are promised in the coming week.

While initially focusing on gameplay mechanics, TMA is now delving deeper into the Web3 aspect of its game. The team has before hinted at the potential for earned skins to be minted into NFTs. During the closed beta, participants were able to mint them on the Ronin network.

Other Perks of The Open Beta

As part of its open beta initiatives, TMA plans to introduce a play-to-airdrop campaign based on leaderboard rankings. This offers rewards to players based on their individual and team performance. Although the exact nature of these rewards is still under wraps, the team has teased the possibility of a token drop.

Players can expect ongoing engagement with TMA during the open beta phase. Here, community events, competitions, and new content updates promised throughout. This includes additions such as new maps, skins, mintable collectibles, and more to keep players engaged and excited about the evolving TMA experience. For closed beta participants, the deadline to claim rewards is April 22.
