Another leaderboard-based play to earn event is back with the start of Open Beta Cycle 2 for browser-based web3 game Eternals Pew Pew following an exclusive partnership with Base-powered Layer 3 network B3 in the same month.
This could very well be the last beta event as well before the game heads into a new phase with significant new features, but if you want to test your skills for free now and possibly earn valuable rewards, then here’s how you can get started.
What Is Eternals Pew Pew?
Eternals Pew Pew is a free to play 2D shooter where players defend the world of Eternia from waves of airborne enemies. Players take control of the Holy Cat, piloting an aircraft to evade attacks and eliminate incoming threats within a limited amount of time and ammunition. Each encounter is randomized, offering a mix of casual and skill-based gameplay. Battles are won by defeating a set number of enemies, with additional optional objectives that can increase a player’s final score. Several difficulty modes are available, and weekly leaderboards track top performers who can earn various in-game rewards.
The game is currently playable on PC via web browsers through its official website. Players can log in using email, Google, Apple, or Facebook accounts, or connect a compatible web3 wallet such as Coin98 Wallet or Ramper Wallet. The game operates on the Viction network, formerly known as TomoChain, a Layer 1 blockchain that enables zero-gas transactions to support accessible web3 gameplay.
Following the Alpha Playtest phase for the month of August, the team brought their action-packed title into open beta near the end of last month, in both cases allowing players to compete in time-limited events for NFT rewards at no cost.
What’s New in Open Beta Cycle 2?
This second Open Beta Cycle does not seem to introduce any significant new features and gameplay systems, if any, but rather resets the leaderboard and lets anyone enjoy the additions brought about with the start of the beta phase itself.
Cycle 2 runs from October 22 at 6 AM UTC until November 4 at 2:00 PM UTC, giving players once again the chance to compete for leaderboard positions.
In case you’re not familiar though, one of the main additions brought about with the open beta phase at the start of the previous Cycle is the Crafting Factory, a new system that allows players to create Chests using components earned during battles. Alongside this, the ability to open all boxes and chests in a player’s inventory has been introduced as well, and opening them can yield various rewards.
The developers have also launched the Item Marketplace, which lets players trade various in-game items that include weapons, chests, boxes, and materials.
In terms of events, the Open Beta continues to feature the limited-time Boss Raid and Bee Gone modes, with additional seasonal events planned throughout Cycle 2. To give players more time to participate, the weekly leaderboard cycle has been extended from 1 week to 2 weeks for each beta cycle, allowing for more flexible play schedules.
NFT holders who have retained their assets since the beginning of Cycle 1 are also eligible for a special reward: the Mythical Proto Angelic Rifle, distributed as part of the seasonal airdrop for Cycle 2. This exclusive weapon is designed to provide a performance boost for players aiming to improve their leaderboard rankings.
What Does the B3 Partnership Bring to Eternals Pew Pew?
The B3 partnership brings faster transactions and reduced network costs for Eternals Pew Pew players, improving performance and accessibility during gameplay. This thus means that Eternals Pew Pew is now live on both basement.fun and play.b3.fun. Players can access all existing features from these sites without any gameplay restrictions or differences from the main version.
To celebrate the launch on B3, the development team released an exclusive partnership reward pack for players who log in through the new platform. The pack includes a unique B3-themed ship skin, a Rare Machine Gun, and an Energy Pack valued at 25,000 Space Stones. These items are available to all players joining the game from B3’s platform, providing a small head start for those participating in ongoing events and leaderboards.
Play and Earn in Eternals Pew Pew Open Beta Cycle 2
Eternals Pew Pew continues its competitive play and earn structure from the Alpha Playtest and onwards, which rewarded players through weekly leaderboards based on Shooting EXP earned in battles, but the game now also features Crafting leaderboard to climb as well.
Players can access the browser-based game directly through the official website and log in to begin playing for free. At the start of each session, players choose one of three difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, or Hard. Higher difficulties provide more Shooting EXP but also require defeating larger groups of enemies within a limited time. Normal and Hard modes feature boss encounters that test reaction time and resource management.
Every mission consumes Energy, which regenerates over time. Additional Energy can be purchased through the in-game shop using the premium currency, Space Stones. Players earn gold and Shooting EXP upon completing missions, along with boxes that contain materials useful for crafting Chests.
Leaderboard rankings determine which players receive Ranking Points and NFT Chests. These Chests contain rare materials for crafting advanced weapons, while Ranking Points contribute toward the Seasonal Leaderboard, which is supported by spending of in-game premium currency Space Stone.
If you want to play to earn NFTs, then Open Beta Cycle 2 of Eternals Pew Pew could be worth giving a go while there’s still time until November 4, 2 PM UTC. For more similar play and earn web3 games, check out PlayToEarn’s video on the top 5 browser games for October 2025.
