Blockchain gaming ecosystem Illuvium is officially kicking off the Pro League 2025, with tournaments starting off on August 16 with a total prize pool of $250k to compete for throughout this entire competitive period. Here is everything you need to know and how you can get ready to compete later this month and the months that follow for a shot at entering the Main Event in December this year.

What Is the Illuvium Pro League?

The Illuvuim Pro League (IPL) is a huge competitive period during which gamers enjoying Illuvium Arena can collect two types of points by climbing the ranked ladder and competing in a couple of tournaments from August to early December to win rewards from a $250k prize pool alongside qualification spots for the $150k Main Event in December.

In the lead up to the Main Event, there will be multiple different ways to qualify for the Main Event, which takes up most of the league’s reward pool. One involves earning IPL Points by playing in IPL 250 / 500 / 1000 tournaments, while the other way is to secure enough Ranked Leaderboard Points (RLP) through daily ranked gameplay to rank at the top of the monthly leaderboard. There will also be an open qualifier Last Call tournament and a Last Chance event in December, right before the Main Event, with the Last Chance event being a 24-hour leaderboard sprint that is available only to the top 250 unqualified players.

There are 64 qualification spots for the Main Event in total, and 48 of them can be earned through IPL tournaments, while 4 are reserved for the Last Call Tournament, 4 are for the Last Chance event, 4 are for Wildcard invites, and only 4 spots are up for grabs through RLP-based ranked leaderboards. Since the majority of the spots are reserved for the IPL tournaments, you probably will want to try and compete in as many of them as you can to ensure you can secure your spot sooner. Plus, each tournament has its own reward pool, so you can play to earn prizes in the process. The specifics of each prize pool were not revealed, but I expect most of it to be distributed in $ILV tokens.

There will be qualifying IPL tournaments to compete in every month, and there are some differences depending on whether it’s an IPL 250, 500, or 1000 tournament. An IPL 250 event is a 32-player tournament that is open to anyone to participate in and comes with a $2k prize pool while awarding up to 250 points, as the name implies. For more points, you’ll want to try competing in IPL 500, a 64-player event that is also open to all but comes with a higher $5k prize pool. The biggest IPL tournament is IPL 1000, as it not only gives out the highest amount of points, but it also features a whopping $20k prize pool. While 64 players can participate in an IPL 1000 tournament, this type of event is noted as being invite only.

Whether you want to focus on grinding every day or opt for limited time competitive events, or try your hand at both, is up to you. As long as you secure enough IPL Points before December or gain enough RLP in one month, you will qualify for the Main Event.

How Does the $150K Main Event Work?

The Main Event is the epic finale of the IPL during which 64 qualified players compete for a prize pool of $150k worth of rewards that are said to include cash, exclusive cosmetics, and “ultimate bragging rights.” Cosmetic prizes seem to include Season 1 Borders, Emotes, Illuvitars, and Battleboards. A share of rewards will be distributed to the top 32 players.

This big competitive event will span 2 weekends, with 64 players competing in the first weekend on December 6 to try and make it in the top 16. Those who qualify move on to the second weekend on December 13, when the best players of Illuvium Arena will try to enter the Grand Finals on the same day and attempt to emerge as the only champion of this massive event.

How to Play to Earn in the Illuvium Pro League

Whether you are new or a returning player to Illuvium Arena, now is the time to get started playing for free in order to participate in the Illuvium Pro League. You can download the web3 auto battler through the Epic Games Store to begin building your team of varied Illuvial creatures while testing your strategies and proving your skills and tactical expertise in ranked gameplay. Carefully set up a powerful team by scouring through the IlluviDEX for the right picks while winning ranked matches to earn Ranked Leaderboard Points that are used for climbing the monthly ladder, and if you manage to collect enough points by the end of the month, you will secure a qualification spot for the IPL’s Main Event.

As you practice and climb your way up the monthly leaderboard through daily gameplay, you will also want to take part in IPL tournaments, most of which are open qualifiers that don’t require a Battle Pass to participate. You’ll only have to make sure you register on time as slots are limited. The first IPL 250 tournament kicks off on August 16 and will be followed by an IPL 500 event on August 23, wrapping up the month with another IPL 250 competition on August 30. The events don’t stop there though, as there are plenty more opportunities to compete for rewards and qualification spots in the months ahead.
