Developer RolldBox Games, On-chain gaming publisher Uprising Labs has announced the Season 1 launch of Masks of the Void: Infinity (MoV: Infinity), now live with exclusive prizes to play to earn by topping the leaderboard for a limited time.
What Is Masks of the Void: Infinity?
Masks of the Void: Infinity is a free to play roguelite and action RPG in which players battle their way through waves of monsters in isometric 3D gameplay through a run-based progression system. Step into the shoes of a powerful fighter named Iret and equip a variety of new masks every season to use unique abilities in telekinesis combat while attempting to survive deadly environments for as long as possible.
Powered by new gaming and entertainment chain Somnia, the first official season of MoV: Infinity is now live in partnership with Elixir Games, and anyone can download the game for free through the Elixir Games Launcher to start competing for leaderboard prizes.
What’s New in Season 1 of MoV: Infinity?
Season 1 brings with it limited modifiers, a curated selection of Cards, Void Gifts, and Relics, and a new leaderboard that is powered by Gamers L.A.B., an interactive data layer for blockchain games that is created by Uprising Labs to give developers the ability to record various player performance stats as on-chain activity.
When it comes to leaderboard rewards, the top 15 players by the end of the season will be able to earn a number of different exclusive prizes, most of which have not been revealed at the time of writing. For now, we only know that the highest-ranked players will win Steam keys for Masks of the Void: Origins, the full story-focused web2 version of the action RPG that is published by Forthright Entertainment and will not be free to play. Aside from that, the team has teased that there will be “other juicy unannounced rewards” to earn as well.
The Uprising Labs publisher partnered with Elixir Games earlier this month to bring the game’s first season to the Square Enix and Solana-backed web3 gaming ecosystem, where you can expect to see exclusive community events to participate in and rewards to earn by playing this game through their launcher. It looks like both sides have started off this series with Season 1.
“The addition of Masks of the Void: Infinity is another step in strengthening the Elixir Games catalog with cutting edge experiences. This partnership opens the door for both companies to grow together, offering players more reasons to jump in, explore and keep coming back for more.”
If you want to win a key for the upcoming Steam game or are more interested in what are probably going to be some kind of crypto rewards, here’s how you can get started with participating in Season 1: Sand Mask, for free.
How to Play to Earn in Masks of the Void: Infinity Season 1
To play to earn in Masks of the Void: Infinity Season 1, which started on September 16 and does not have an official end date, you will have to download the beta version of the wave-based shooter on your Windows PC through the Elixir Games Launcher. If you don’t have the launcher, you will have to download that first and login using your email address. Once you’ve logged in to the launcher, head to the Games section and find MoV: Infinity. From its store page, you can add the game to your library, and then download it for free.
The system requirements for the game mention having 10 GB of space, 16 GB of RAM, and at least an AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel i5 CPU, with no dedicated GPU mentioned.
By simply playing the game for free during the season, you have a chance of climbing to the top of the leaderboard, where the 15 best players with the highest score will win Steam keys for the full web2 game from the same universe, alongside other prizes that have yet to be announced.
Your goal for this season is thus to try and attempt to get the highest score that you can in a single run. As tends to be the case with roguelike games, this replayable fantasy title too features randomly generated levels to fight waves of enemies through in dynamic, skill-based PvE gameplay. In this case, you’ll want to survive for as long as possible and take out as many enemies as you can try to get a score that is high enough to rank you in the top 15.
As you fight and use your varied abilities, you get to level up your skills throughout the run as well as swap them out for stronger powers for a better chance of surviving longer while picking up Void Gifts to gain various buffs.
For the game’s full release, players will be able to use a variety of environmental objects to their advantage while playing as one of 3 different gameplay classes through which players will be able to create builds with “random objects” within each game. When it comes to play to earn features, next to climbing seasonal leaderboards, it looks like you will eventually be able to unlock and collect tradable digital assets that tie to player progression in order to create "an entirely new layer of persistence in a genre built on reinvention.” This probably means that it will be possible to play to earn on-chain items that you can own and keep using from one run to the next, instead of losing all progress made in one run.
If you like blockchain-powered roguelite and roguelike games that reward player skill, then you may want to try competing for the top rankings in Season 1 of MoV: Infinity, which you can do now for free. You can check rankings and varied stats on the official leaderboard page. The end date has not been announced at the time of writing, so it’s best to start practicing and climbing the leaderboard as soon as you can.
