Web3 game developer Empires Not Vampires has announced the launch of the Port Ohana Fishing Tournament for their free to play blockchain game, Paradise Tycoon. During this exclusive event, players can play to earn $MOANI tokens and more rewards. Here’s how.

What Is Paradise Tycoon?

Paradise Tycoon is a relaxing multiplayer life sim set in a tropical 3D world in which you can customize your own island as you farm, gather various resources, go fishing, and more. Take part in a player-driven, blockchain-powered economy powered by claiming top spots in reward-packed events while trading resources and crafted items at the P2P Auction House to earn the game’s core $MOANI token, which had its TGE on August 25, 2025. Players can trade both NFTs and non-NFTs, and items crafted using very rare resources can be minted into NFTs.

Free players start off on a non-NFT island which contains a limited amount of common and rare resources that can be traded but also used for creating low-level buildings and items.

Incubated by Seedify and powered by Paradise Chain, a custom Avalanche L1 made to enable interoperable blockchain gaming experiences across PC, mobile and consoles, anyone can enjoy Paradise Tycoon as a free to play web2 or web3 title right now in its open beta state, which is available on web browsers, Android via the Play Store, and iOS using TestFlight. You don’t need a crypto wallet to play. The goal is to eventually launch the web3 game on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation.

How to Participate in Paradise Tycoon’s Port Ohana Fishing Tournament

To participate in Port Ohana Fishing Tournament, you will need a fishing rod, either an NFT or off-chain version, alongside plenty of worm bait. If this is your first time playing Paradise Tycoon, head to the game’s official website and choose whether you’d like to play on your web browser or mobile device.

Once you’re in the game and after you’ve completed the tutorial, travel to Port Ohana to start fishing. If you don’t have a fishing rod, you can craft various types if you have the blueprint for them. Just like with other tools, you can earn blueprints in a couple of different ways, among which include completing quests and simply acquiring them from NPC vendors. As for worm bait, you should have a couple from doing the tutorial, and you can get more every 6 hours at the box located next to the farm on your island. You can also gain more worm bait from the Trader NPC, as well as from other players through the Auction House.

Fishing involves playing a simple mini-game in which you have to keep the reeling tension in the middle or green zone of a vertical slider by simply pressing the reel in button at the right times, ensuring the moving line doesn’t go too high or fall too low. There is a horizontal line on the bottom of the screen showing your progress with a fish icon moving from one side to the other as you’re reeling it in. The fish can fight back sometimes and its icon will flash red when doing so, making tension rise much faster if you reel. If you manage to fully reel it in, you’ve successfully caught the fish and in this particular case, earned leaderboard points.

Climbing the tournament leaderboard is done using points earned from catching fish. The rarer the fish you manage to catch, the more points you get. Since higher-level tools feature better attributes, crafting a rarer fishing rod can help you catch more valuable fish, making NFT fishing rods useful for this event. Those who own an NFT fishing rod with high Fishing Luck and Line Strength will likely have a better chance of topping the rankings for this tournament. There is however a limit to the number of fish you can catch per day for this event, and that limit is 30 fish per day.

The event runs from September 13 to September 28, and you can start participating for free or buy a rarer, or NFT version of a fishing rod over at the in-game Auction House or the Sphere NFT marketplace to increase your chances of ranking high enough to earn $MOANI tokens and possibly more.
