After opening signups for the Early Game Preview of PlanetQuest: Outposts earlier in February, the browser-based planet management game is now officially available for free by connecting your wallet with Immutable X on the game’s official website.
Preview Details
This early version is centered around the first 3 days of the game in order to help the developers test the new player experience. Everyone starts off with their own Dwarf Planet and is taught throughout how to build the planet’s starting foundations while setting up drones to send on missions, doing factions quests, taking on Planetary events, and more. As you make your way through the preview, you will get to unlock new planets, new reputation track rewards, and more research options that can help you have greater freedom in how you take on various challenges over time.

In comparison to the game’s first preview, Planetary events are said to have been improved, while Actions have been replaced with Missions, with the new objectives said to provide a more “deeper, more fleshed-out experience that has been given a layer of narrative polish for further immersion.” What’s also new is the introduction of faction quests, which means you can now help your faction in achieving its various goals.
Future Plans
According to the announcement, if development continues to go steadily as it has been, Outposts is well on course to fully releasing this year. By doing so, it is set to become “the first layer of our universe” for other experiences to be built upon, while being an important part of the economic system. This means that the game puts the upcoming $PQX token at the core of its reward economy, as players can convert in-game resources, which include Credits and Raw Quantum, into tokens. Outposts however is set to feature varied utility for $PQX, Insignias, Planets, and Guilds, with all of them tying into the token in one way or another, meaning most player actions could have an impact on the PlanetQuest economy.
The official post reveals that Planets will go active with Outposts, generating daily chunks of Raw Quantum based on your in-game performance. Insignias are set to include a couple of use cases, as they will be possible to claim as Credits or $PQX, allowing players to either get “a sizable in-game fund to kickstart your Planet building efforts or to get a Token reward.” It’s also suggested that holding certain Insignia could even you get disouncts in upcoming NFT sales. Guilds and Factions are set to have a significant role in the Web3 title as their moves will affect storylines, available missions, and more.
