BinaryX has announced the release of a new update for CyberChess, introducing custom rooms while making a welcome change to the match mode for the play-to-earn autobattler.

Players can now access the new Custom Room Mode which has been included as a result of community feedback, making it easier to play matches with your friends. Everyone is now able to easily create a room for up to 8 players with a password. As a host you can invite others by sharing the room number and of course the password, but in order to start a match in such a room, only 2 players are needed in order to play, with the host able to start the match at any time so long as the minimum condition is met. If the match doesn’t start in 3 minutes however, then the room system will have the game auto-start instead.

In the event that the host has to leave mid-game or simply ends up getting disconnected, then the role simply gets passed on to another player, preventing the match from stopping entirely because of a host leaving.

At the end of a custom match, players get to earn Gold as well as points depending on the ranking, with the points able to be used for unlocking “prestigious honor achievements” thus offering players “a continuous sense of progression and a chance to showcase your strategic prowess.”

With this new update, players not only get to enjoy the ability to create custom rooms, but the regular matchmaking mode has been revamped by changing the required number of players to start a match from 8 to 2. By making it so that a room no longer has to be filled with the max amount of players, everyone now gets to enjoy shorter matchmaking times, spending more time in strategic gameplay as a result.

In the future, the developers plan to launch a spectator feature once they make sure the new mode is stable, making it possible to watch your friends play and learn from experienced players in the process.

Earlier this month, BinaryX published their plans for various projects in 2023, outlining their vision for each.
