Gunzilla Games is expanding the reach of its native token. Starting Thursday, July 10, the GUN token, first launched on Avalanche, will officially go live on Solana. This marks the start of a broader shift for the developer's GUNZ blockchain ecosystem, which powers its battle royale shooter Off The Grid.

The decision to move beyond a single chain reflects what Gunzilla describes as a "multi-chain ethos." By expanding the GUN token to Solana, Gunzilla is lowering barriers for new users while signaling plans to bring the token to more chains in the future.

"This is in line with our goal to make the GUNZ marketplace and its items, as well as any games within the GUNZ ecosystem, accessible to anyone—on any chain," said Theodore Agranat, Director of Web3 at Gunzilla Games.

To mark the occasion, Gunzilla is launching a Solana-themed NFT skin pack within Off The Grid. This new addition celebrates the token's wider availability and ties in with Solana's fast, low-fee ecosystem.

Improving Access and Onboarding

Gunzilla sees this expansion as a way to bring more gamers and traders into its ecosystem. The move allows players unfamiliar with Avalanche to join without needing to learn a new blockchain or switch wallets.

"I think the principal effect this move will have is accessibility to newer investors and lowering the barrier for entry, versus having to learn about a new chain in order to buy," said pseudonymous Off The Grid skin collector Money Magician. "Perhaps not an instant effect, but it shall be a positive driver for [GUN's price]."

As of July 8, the GUN token is ranked #73 among all gaming tokens by market cap. Despite Off The Grid's growing player base and successful sales of in-game skins like the Tacoma Pioneer, the token has dropped 69% from its all-time high since its March launch.

This price slide contrasts sharply with the game's healthy in-game economy. According to DEGENRADAR, the GUNZ marketplace recorded over $666,000 in trading volume over the past 30 days.

Gunzilla is betting that improved token access through Solana will help correct that imbalance.

"We want to be the best place for you to launch a token," said Jerry Li of the Solana Foundation, during an X Spaces session. "Off the Grid is a great example… it's a project that is thriving on the web2 side, and we want to make sure that the same picture is translated into its web3 performance."

Mainnet Migration and Marketplace Growth

Gunzilla began mainnet migration in June, moving over 21,000 testnet users. The GUNZ chain now supports full ownership of assets, NFTs, and tokens within the game. Migration is happening in waves, and Gunzilla plans to expand access once they complete their VASP license approval.

Over 17.3 million wallets are registered on the GUNZ network. In June alone, players completed 413,000 HEX decodings, with nearly $13 million in GUN marketplace trades.

The ecosystem now supports decentralized validator NFTs, with most of the 10,000 nodes live and minting assets. While activity remains low during this rollout, Gunzilla expects major growth once all players move to mainnet.

Looking Ahead: What's Next for GUNZ and Off The Grid

Gunzilla recently shared an updated GUNZ roadmap. It includes big plans for the second half of 2025 and beyond. This month, Gunzilla started using its Hexes reveal system to announce new partnerships. The first Hex dropped on July 7, with more to come.

The GUNZ team is also preparing for a wider Steam launch of Off The Grid. The game is already available on Epic Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Steam version will allow players to access the game on testnet, complying with Valve's current stance on blockchain content.

Meanwhile, a key feature traders are watching is OpenSea integration. Gunzilla says early asset trading will begin soon for OTG Pro subscribers, ahead of a full release. According to Money Magician: "That's when real money will flow in and out of the skins economy."

Other updates include a redesigned website and landing page for the GUNZ ecosystem, along with a web3-focused roadmap to guide future expansion.

New Developer Tools and Gameplay Features

Gunzilla has also supported new community developer tools. These include DEGENRADAR, which offers real-time analytics on marketplace trades, and OTG Meta, which tracks player loadouts and weapon usage.

In terms of gameplay, Off The Grid recently added a 20-player free-for-all deathmatch mode. It includes four new arenas: Marshlands, Midtown Harbour, Stork City, and Ocio. Players can now equip a new Cyberlimb weapon, the Cyberlancer, which features a dash attack and bleed effect.

Weapon systems were also overhauled, with new recoil and spread mechanics. The Kestrel sniper gained more damage and RPM, while the AZV100 was rebalanced with lower damage but faster burst shots. Players can now toggle between first and third-person views with scopes and enjoy gyro aiming on PC and PS5.

Off The Grid's Story and Tech Stack

Off The Grid is directed by sci-fi filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, who helped create the game's unique interchangeable limbs mechanic. These limbs affect player movement and skills, directly influencing gameplay and marketplace dynamics.

Based on the latest updates, the GUNZ ecosystem now includes:

  • $GUN Token (native currency)
  • GUNZ L1 Blockchain
  • NFT Marketplace
  • GUNZ Wallet and Blockchain Explorer
  • Validator Nodes
  • TECHNOCORE mobile game
  • OTG Companion App

These tools make it possible for players to earn, trade, and own their in-game assets. Gunzilla says their aim is to give players full control over digital items, identities, and progression.

"What was once an ambitious belief — that true asset ownership enabled by blockchain would radically increase player engagement — is now a working reality," said Gunzilla CEO Vlad Korolev.

Growing Liquidity With New Exchange Partner

GUNZ recently teamed up with Blackhole, a decentralized exchange. This partnership will bring new $GUN token pools to Avalanche, improving liquidity and making it easier to trade.

While no specific dates for the pool launch have been given yet, the team says this is part of a larger effort to improve token availability across chains.

Final Notes

The GUN token's move to Solana marks a notable step in Gunzilla's broader effort to support a multi-chain game ecosystem. With mainnet migration ongoing, new features rolling out, and the recent Steam launch, Gunzilla is pushing ahead with its goal to merge web2 gaming polish with web3 ownership.
