Developer Gunzilla Games is looking to better connect with the community by kicking off a series of GUNZ Ecosystem Reports, with this one featuring highlights from June 2025 and info on the team’s behind-the-scenes progress on various fronts ahead of the Steam launch of their extraction royale, Off The Grid.
The latest ecosystem update post is designed to address the team’s lack of communication in the past few months. With the GUNZ ecosystem said to be entering a “new phase of growth,” the studio is starting “a new era” in which they will try to more actively engage with the community while providing increased transparency and frequency of updates. This means that you can now look forward to seeing the devs share more about future plans, as well as reveal data on the in-game economy. Expect to see more monthly ecosystem reports like this one alongside the launch of a web3-focused roadmap. A series of “major reveals” are also coming from July 4 and onwards.
June is said to have been a significant month for this studio’s gaming ecosystem, as it’s the month in which the first set of users, 21k players, were invited to mainnet, marking the start of permanent on-chain ownership in their AAA title. This migration process to mainnet is being done in a “methodical manner” in order to stay compliant with platform guidelines and global regulations. It’s also being done in waves in order to find out and fix any issues earlier.
On the regulatory front, VASP licensing (Virtual Asset Service Provider) is going into the final stages, so once the team manages to obtain that license, full mainnet access for all players should follow shortly afterwards. In fact, the team already expects a dramatic increase in players gaining access to mainnet “in the coming weeks”. The goal is to ultimately migrate all 17.3 million wallets over to mainnet. By doing so, all players will be able to benefit from permanent ownership of their in-game assets, meaning all their achievements and their inventory will be fully on-chain. With this migration, all your weapons, skins, and any other decoded loot from your testnet wallet will be moved over to mainnet. In terms of mainnet economy activity so far, the team has noted 413k HEX decodings and a 12.9 million $GUN marketplace volume.
The month of June also marked the launch of Validator NFTs on mainnet, meaning that most of the 10k nodes are now live and actively minting in-game assets, earning commissions in the process. Given the number of players migrated so far, both trade volumes and commissions are of course low, but that could certainly change once the game and its ecosystem are properly transitioned to the full mainnet for a complete blockchain gaming experience. More details on validator nodes are planned to be announced.
As the team makes progress on licensing in order to fully migrate the game to mainnet and give all players a true blockchain-powered play to earn experience, they will also look to soon publish a new roadmap to give the community details on all the web3-related plans they have in store for the ecosystem for the rest of this year.
Next to all this significant news is the big announcement that Off The Grid is coming to Steam this July 2025 in an effort to further expand its playerbase. There’s certainly no better place on PC to do that than on the biggest platform in PC gaming, which is home to 132 million monthly players that bring in almost $11 billion in yearly spending. Given that Valve’s marketplace isn’t as lax on blockchain games as the Epic Games Store is, the Steam version will let players enjoy the testnet experience instead. The team will work with Valve “to meet platform guidelines” while displaying “the power of our open marketplace technology” that gamers are already enjoying on PlayStation and Xbox as the first on-chain economy to be approved on both consoles.
Gunzilla Games has also highlighted the release of 2 new developer tools from its community: DEGENRADAR and OTG Meta. The first lets you track the GUNZ economy by providing real-time marketplace analytics, while the second delivers weapon and loadout analytics.
The report also provided a summary of all the new updates recently introduced in Off The Grid. These include movement adjustments, gameplay tweaks, Cyberlimb improvements, a weapon overhaul, and various major additions.
The biggest updates introduced throughout last month include the release of a new 20-player FFA Deathmatch mode with 4 new arenas: Marshlands, Midtown Harbour, Stork City, and Ocio. There is also a new Cyberlimb: Cyberlancers, a dash-attack blade featuring a bleed effect. Players on PS5 and PC gamers can now utilize Gyro aiming, and all players now have the option to use scope toggling between 1st and 3rd person views for ACOGs and sniper scores.
Weapons have undergone a complete recoil and spread system revamp. This affects all weapon classes and is said to bring a TTK increase and a rebalance to ammo capacities. Scope FOV and clarity improvements have been made, while new attachments for the Kestrel sniper have been added. The same weapon has seen an increase in RPM and damage, while variants have been rebalanced. The AZV100 on the other hand now deals lower damage but comes with a faster burst.

The Layer 1 blockchain ecosystem has formed a partnership with decentralized exchange Blackhole. Through this collaboration, $GUN holders can look forward to new token pools arriving on Avalanche, further expanding token liquidity. Details on when the launch of new $GUN pools will happen have not been revealed at the time of writing, but you can expect them to be coming soon.
