Ease of access and interoperability are hot keywords in the web3 gaming industry. Ease of access to make playing games and accessing blockchain features as easy and pain-free as possible, especially for gamers who are not familiar with web3 technology. And interoperability to leverage one of those long-time, key selling points of blockchain gaming, and in particular, NFTs – true ownership.
And though ownership is often associated with owning items, being able to own your personal identity, and through that, a personal reputation as well, is something that many gamers are interested in.
And so that brings us to the Realm Network, the “flagship interoperable infrastructure layer of Accounts, Identity, Reputation, and Points” of Animoca Brands.
More about the Realm Network
The Realm Network will have three basic pillars – Realm Account, Realm ID, and Realm Points. The Realm Account layer is basically a single source of login that will also remove the need for repetitive transaction signings or gas payments. A sort of Google or Apple login with a web3 focus.
The Realm ID is a central point for a user's digital identity. Apps can connect to a user's Realm ID while still allowing players to customize and change their specific identities within each game or app. Realm IDs will also serve as a reputation system, providing avenues for good actors to be easily recognized and rewarded. And perhaps the other way around as well!
Realm Points will function as a centralized rewards system. Players can earn Realm Points from any participating partner, and use them to gain benefits from other participants and even earn prizes from Mocaverse as well!
Within the Realm Network, MOCA will be the currency used for transaction fees.
The goal is to provide a central login, wallet, and account management system across a wide variety of apps, both those on-chain and off-chain.
Interestingly, Animoca says that they want to bridge both web2 and web3 games with the Realm Network, but I'm not sure how that is going to happen if you need a cryptocurrency for transaction fees.
We've seen similar projects from networks like Immutable, Hytopia, and Gala Games (just to name a few). But, with the web3 juggernaut known as Animoca Brands behind this project, it will be interesting to see how quickly they can gain traction with their new ecosystem.
They have already built Realm SDK with partners WebAuth and Cyber. This is a product layer designed to facilitate the integration of their single sign-on account system.
Head over to the official Realm Network webpage for more info and to sign up as a potential partner.

What is the Mocaverse?
The Mocaverse is kind of an initial proof of concept of the ideas behind the Realm Network. Moca IDs are an example of Realm IDs. Players can use their Moca ID to login and earn points across various games. Mocaverse has onboarded nearly 1.5 million accounts onto their Moca ID system. Moca IDs are free. Head over the the Mocaverse website to claim your ID now.
The prime NFTs for the Mocaverse are the Mocas, a limited edition collection of PFP style NFTs that include founder level benefits to their holders, particularly those who keep their Mocas rather than trading them. Mocas offer additional ongoing point accumulations, which can be used for special giveaways and events. They also function as playable characters in Pixels.
The current floor price for Moca NFTs is just under 4 ETH.
