The studio behind multi-chain trading card RPG Dark Country is hosting a Changeling Pack NFT drop on July 26th at Aptos-based launchpad and marketplace Wapal.

Mint Details

This mint is divided into a whitelist and public sale, with whitelisted users able to mint for 0.5 $APT (~$3.62) on July 25th, while the public takes place a day later for 0.65 $APT (~$4.70) per pack, if any NFTs still remain for this phase. Supply details do not seem to be available, but what is known so far is that each pack contains game items that include 5 cards, though the mint page also mentions that you might unpack heroes or lands as well depending on the type of pack that you end up getting.

To celebrate the game’s launch on the Aptos network, the team has opened up a waitlist to give everyone an opportunity to participate in the whitelist phase. Filling up this form requires leaving your wallet address and a Twitter, Discord or Telegram profile. It’s necessary to put in at least one of the 3 so that the team can inform of you of further minting details, according to the form’s instructions.

You’ll notice on the official mint page that there are 2 more phases that take place earlier: an Initial Team Mint and Giveaway Phase. The Initial Team Mint, according to a tweet in the official announcement thread, is included there in order to allow the developers to do a “technical check” so that they can make sure the minting process works properly. The Giveaway phase is designed to mint NFTs for users who were lucky enough to win the pack for free through promotional activities. Anyone who won this giveaway will have their NFT distributed after the public sale is over.

What Are the Benefits of Minting a Changeling Pack?

By minting a Changeling Pack, you’ll be getting the game assets you need to participate in upcoming play to earn tournaments that feature $100+ USDT prizes. It looks like these competitions are specifically designed for this new collection, and you can see some of the new cards that can be found in it in the image above as well as on various tweets from the game’s X profile.

What Is Dark Country?

If you’re not familiar, Dark Country is both a downloadable trading card game and a browser-based land game, all set in an American Gothic setting. It runs on multiple chains, including WAX, Flow, Immutable and soon Aptos. Anyone can download the collectible card game as a free to play title on PC directly through the game’s website but also on Ultra and itch.io. You will get a free starter deck so you can get started playing PvP matches to earn tradable NFTs by ranking at the top of the daily leaderboard.

The other mode is a browser-based game where Dark Country Land NFT owners can enjoy strategic gameplay that includes creating activities to increase your Influence, completing passive PvE quests, forming alliances, engaging in guild wars, leasing assets and staking heroes, earning tokens in the process. Quests involve sending decks built around heroes, with the completion time varying based on the rarity of the cards included in the deck. Land can be rented, and landowners can also host one custom tournament a day to reward the top 3 players with SDM tokens and thus increase the land’s Influence depending on the number of players that participate. Influence can also be gained by making successful attacks on other lands, winning SDM in the process. It’s possible to make 5 free attack orders every day, and while the attacker won’t be deducted Influence from losing, the defender does have their Influence lowered from suffering defeat. Influence is important for gaining higher daily SDM rewards, requiring players to remain active in order to avoid losing it.
