Following the end of Season 8 Postseason, Axie Infinity Origins has now entered S9 Preseason, which comes with a 4000 AXS Collectible Leaderboard to climb until June 12th, 3 AM UTC.
Next to the prize pool, this period also brings with it balancing updates, era-based testing for Runes and Charms, SLP reward adjustments, bug fixes and quality of life improvements.
There are also 2 new Starter Axies: Bard and Machito. Players can purchase them from the Origins Shop for 1000 Gems each.

Collectible Leaderboard Details
Players who own at least one collectible axie can participate in the Preseason Collectible Leaderboard by competing for points in the arena. Win matches with stamina while being at least Boar rank or higher to earn points that will determine your position on the leaderboard. The rank you are in does affect the amount of points you get per win, with point mulipliers also included for playing with Mystic, Origin, MEO, Japanese, Xmas or Shiny axies. Mystic axies provide a 3x point multiplier, while Origin ones have a 1.5x point multiplier, and the rest (MEO/Japanese/Xmas/Shiny) 0.75x. Here’s how many points are awarded per rank:
- Boar: 1
- Wolf: 2
- Bear: 4
- Tiger: 8
- Dragon: 16
- Challenger: 32
The leaderboard includes 4000 AXS up for grabs for the top 1337 players.

Balancing Updates
This season’s balancing patch mostly centers around level 2 parts, reworking most cards while refining Runes and Charms in an effort to provide a fairer competitive experience while giving more utility to evolved axie parts.

S8 Runes and Charms have been disabled to prepare for next season, with a free S9 R/C test kit now available in the Origins Shop. Adding this test kit gives players the chance to try out new Runes and Charms before the actual season starts, with the Rare S8.5 Box now unlocked. The Epic S8.5 Box unlocks on June 1st, while the Mystic S8.5 Box will be available on June 5th. A Preseason Cup with AXS rewards is planned to take place near the end of the testing period, with more details set to soon be revealed.
