The first public playtest of 77-Bit Constructs opens today, December 18, at 3PM UTC. The event will run for 24 hours and introduce players to the new Constructs (Lands) gameplay. This test marks the first time the wider community can get hands-on access to the latest feature in 77-Bit's MMORPG world.

77-Bit Constructs Playtest Starts Today: What You Need to Know

For this limited-time test, players will explore 7 different types of land, each with its own resource potential. You can farm, craft, and take risks to level up your character, called a Prime. But the deeper you go, the higher the danger, and the bigger the possible reward. Push too far, though, and you will start all over from zero.

Quantum Core holders will be the only ones allowed to build on land during this test. For everyone else, the goal is to explore, gather, and see how far your Prime can grow within the short window. If your Prime makes good progress, you'll get to convert it into a mystery feature known only as "[redacted]". This will happen on testnet and is being kept secret for now. But according to some alpha leaked during the project's Bi-Weekly Call with Holders 10, this feature may be tied to the game's upcoming token called the TGF coin, which is expected to launch shortly before the full Land season begins.

Along with gameplay, this test also serves a technical purpose. The devs want to stress-test servers and uncover bugs, meaning players will be part of the process in helping shape the game. A bonus is on offer for those who try out in-game currency systems: during the test, anyone who buys Glyth (the game's hard currency) will get a 20% bonus, and even if they spend it, they'll still get their full amount back when the season starts.

A Look Back at the March Beta

This isn't the first time 77-Bit opened its doors to players. Back in March, an exclusive beta ran from March 19 to April 4. Access was limited to NFT holders, Battle Pass owners, and other early supporters. That beta included 3 major modes: the Wilds, Dungeons, and the Darknet.

The Wilds mode introduced open-world zones where players could battle enemies and loot gear. Dungeons were for solo players and focused on fighting tough bosses in closed spaces. The Darknet was a roguelike mode with random levels, where players could chase high rewards at high risk.

One of the key features of that beta was the chance to earn Pixels, a soft currency that later converted into Bytes. Bytes were the main metric for tracking progress and ranking. The top 5000 players who earned the most Bytes gained "Iconic" status, giving them early access to mint Quantum Core NFTs, which later tied into Constructs.

For others, a hidden set of conditions could lead to being labeled a "Noob," which also came with its own set of rewards. These players could get Bits, the premium currency, which could be claimed daily on the BitHub platform.

What's Different in the Constructs Test?

The March beta focused on PvE and roguelike experiences across digital spaces. Constructs shifts the focus to land-based gameplay and resource crafting. While previous game modes pushed for combat and dungeon runs, Constructs brings in a fresh layer of risk-vs-reward progression through farming and upgrading.

Quantum Core holders now play a new role. Back in March, they were linked to early access. Now they hold the power to build on lands, something other players can't do yet.

There's also a new type of conversion tied to the Prime, which wasn't part of earlier tests. The ability to transform your character into something else adds mystery to the current event, especially since it's only being done on testnet for now.

Community Challenge and Rewards

To boost participation, the team is also running a reward campaign tied to social media. 5 packs of Glyth, the game's main hard currency, will be raffled to players who interact with the official announcement on X. This includes retweets, likes, or replies to the post found here.

While the public test is free, there are clear advantages for those who engage with the economy. Anyone who purchases Glyth during this window will receive a 20% bonus. Even if it's spent during the test, the original purchase amount will be returned once the season begins, with the bonus included.

77-Bit's World and Gameplay at a Glance

For new players, 77-Bit is a cyberpunk MMORPG that runs in your browser. The game takes place in a dystopian future, set in the year 2077. The world is split into zones like Byte City, the Wilds, and the Darknet, each offering different gameplay loops.

You play as part of a resistance movement fighting off AI forces from beyond reality. The game draws from retro pop culture while also presenting a digital age where humanity has mostly lost control.

Players can choose between 3 classes (Hacker, Technomancer, or Sentinel) and then progress through a mix of quests, battles, and crafting systems. As you level up, you gain access to more complex gameplay, including PvPvE battles in extraction arenas and roguelike runs through digital zones.

Earlier in the year, 77-Bit was accessible to NFT holders, Noobs, and those who bought into the ecosystem via Bits packs or Battle Passes. The March beta offered early access to loot and a test-run of the player economy. That test focused on engagement and reward conversion systems, such as collecting Pixels and turning them into Bytes, and eventually into something more.

Final Hours Before Launch

With only a few hours left before the Constructs playtest begins, many are preparing to jump into a new experience inside the 77-Bit world. This 24-hour window introduces lands for the first time and invites everyone to push their Primes as far as they can, with the risk of losing resources (or progress) along the way.
