Youmio has officially selected Avalanche to launch the world's first Layer 1 network designed for AI agents. The new chain supports intelligent software agents as core participants in a decentralized network. It gives these digital agents their own identity, wallets, and tools, helping them interact in games, apps, and online spaces.
The move marks a shift in how AI will live on blockchain. It also introduces a fresh way for creators to build, control, and verify intelligent virtual characters.
A New Layer 1 Chain for AI Agents
Youmio is not a general-purpose chain. It was built from the ground up for autonomous AI agents. These agents are digital beings that can learn, evolve, and make decisions. The chain gives each agent a wallet, a set of modular skills, and a changing metadata profile. It also allows creators to mint agent actions as cryptographic proofs, adding trust and traceability.
"Youmio is thinking clearly about what agents actually need at the protocol level, enabling massive tokenization of AI agents on Avalanche," said Luigi DeMeo of Ava Labs. "Instead of fitting agents into an old model, they're creating the purpose-built foundation from the start."
The decision to build on Avalanche gives Youmio access to a fast and stable blockchain. Avalanche already supports over 6 million funded wallets and has more than 3 million monthly users. Its speed and finality help agents perform actions in real time without delay.
Why Agent Infrastructure Matters
As AI tools become more common, the role of agents is growing fast. Agents act on our behalf, make choices, and interact with other systems. But without open systems, these agents are often locked inside private companies. This raises concerns about control, data ownership, and trust.
"Agents are the interface layer of AI, but without public infrastructure they'll be owned, tracked and unverifiable," said Michael O'Connor, co-founder and CEO of Youmio. "As we outsource decisions to them, we need agents we can trust. Youmio provides open infrastructure where agents act transparently, with identity, memory and provenance onchain, and privacy controls in the hands of users."
By keeping agent identity and memory on the blockchain, Youmio allows users to verify what an agent did, when, and why. It also gives users full control over their agent's privacy settings.
Meet the Mios: AI Characters on Chain
Youmio's first major product is a creation tool for building 3D AI characters called Mios. These digital agents are multi-agentic, meaning they can act independently, learn through interaction, and change over time. They are designed to move freely across apps, games, and social platforms.
Each Mio can be personalized with traits, like how outgoing or cautious they are. Creators can assign them jobs like trader, gamer, or influencer. Once live, a Mio can carry memory from one environment to the next, keeping its experiences and personality.
A new token model supports this system. Instead of one token per character, a single token can now link to a group of related agents. This lets creators build agent networks where rewards depend on how agents behave or how often they are used.
Youmio's Role in InfraBUIDL(AI)
To boost the growth of agent-based projects, the Avalanche Foundation recently launched InfraBUIDL(AI), a $15 million funding program for AI startups. Michael O'Connor has joined its investment committee to help guide the program's direction.
"We're investing in builders who are ready to push the limits of what agents can do and help shape the leading agent chain in the process," said O'Connor.
Youmio will support this work by helping creators access funding, tools, and visibility. Together with the Avalanche Foundation, they plan to offer capital and infrastructure for agent-driven applications that expand the ecosystem.
From "Today The Game" to Youmio
Youmio wasn't always an infrastructure project. The team started as a web3 social sim called "Today The Game." In early 2025, they rebranded and shifted their focus. The new direction placed AI agents at the center, making them active, self-learning members of a blockchain world.
Now, Youmio stands as the first purpose-built blockchain for agents. It includes creative tools, a minting model, and systems for verifying agent actions. Its design helps answer key questions around AI: Who controls it? Who created it? Can we trust it?
By linking actions to onchain proofs, Youmio creates a record of behavior. By linking agents to user-controlled wallets, it ensures privacy and security. And by building on Avalanche, it guarantees speed, scale, and reliability.
About Avalanche and Its Foundation
Avalanche is a leading blockchain platform that offers fast and low-cost services for builders. It uses a unique 3-part architecture that supports public and private networks. Its core engine, the Avalanche Consensus Mechanism, ensures quick finality, making it ideal for apps that need fast updates.
Avalanche also supports the creation of custom Layer 1 networks through its Layer 0 design. This setup allows developers to launch connected but independent networks that suit their specific use cases.
The Avalanche Foundation supports this work by funding teams, offering tools, and building community. As a non-profit, it aims to grow the platform and help creators succeed in the ecosystem.
The Road Ahead for Agent Chains
The launch of Youmio marks a turning point for blockchain and AI. For the first time, agents have a chain of their own. They are no longer guests on a system made for something else. They are full participants in a network built to support their needs.
As more tools go live, and as more creators join the network, Youmio hopes to set the standard for agent infrastructure. With Avalanche's power behind it and a strong developer push ahead, their agent economy is just getting started.
