Web3 gaming ecosystem Xterio has officially revealed its very first AI game: Palio. It’s planned to come out soon, and you might be able to get yourself an Early Access Code to jump into the test launch by heading over to the platform’s official Discord server.

What Is Palio?

Palio is Xterio’s flagship AI game in which you play as a shopkeeper selling a variety of items to animal characters. It’s focused on delivering a 2D blockchain gaming experience that centers around trading and crafting gameplay. To achieve this, according to the official reveal, the ecosystem’s first AI game uses AI-powered “logical reasoning” together with web3 trading mechanics.

You will get to play in a cute fantasy floating world where your own shop is located. Animal NPCs will stop by to see your offerings, with each of them having their own unique shopping lists. If you’ve crafted what they’re looking for, they will have the gold to buy it. Your customers will look for all sorts of items, including herbs, weapons, armor, desserts, and more.

To craft all their desired products, you will need to have the right blueprints. By simply crafting the items you can at the beginning, you will gain more experience and thus level up, unlocking new blueprints in the process. This means that over time, you will have the opportunity to create and sell items that are more valuable.

Having blueprints is just the start though. You also need the right rare materials to craft better items. To find them, you will have to take on dungeon quests together with a team of animal characters that can be equipped with the gear you’ve crafted. What kind of dungeon gameplay will there be has not been revealed, but judging by the image, it looks like you’ll control a team of 3 characters that will likely be used for some form of strategic gameplay, possibly for idle or turn-based battles.

While the game will be playable solo, the guild system is set to be a crucial feature for this blockchain title, so you’ll probably want to join a guild if you want to unlock benefits such as building bonuses, higher worker levels, and so on. Guild members will also be able to earn exclusive rewards and bring gifts to each other to foster collaboration.

As you play, there is a chance to see the Piggy King arrive at your store. Piggy King is a special NPC powered by the team’s “AI Conversational Engine”. This NPC will be ready to pay up to 10x more gold than regular NPCs for your goodies. Whether he’s willing to buy something at a higher price will depend on whether you can convince him through conversation to do so. According to a recent X post, this AI agent will be fun and emotional to talk to, featuring unique traits that will be revealed in the future.

No official launch date is available at the time of writing, but what we do know is that the game is coming out soon on PC and mobile browsers. The end of the official reveal thread also mentions that you can look forward to seeing the game’s promotional video and gameplay footage soon. If you want to get a chance at playing it early, then you could try getting an Early Access Code.
