Decentralized ecosystem developer Dypius has announced that World of Dypians, a player-driven virtual fantasy world, is now available for download on the Epic Games Store.
This release on the Fortnite creator’s store is an early access launch representing a closed beta version of the Web3 title. One of the benefits to getting listed on this store, according to the announcement, is a streamlined update process that makes it possible for developers to easily deploy new updates while players now no longer have to download the whole game whenever something new gets added, but can simply have new updates get automatically downloaded and ready to go.
This closed beta version, which debuted on Epic’s store last week on December 21st, is said to feature a futuristic city, special on-chain events, AI-powered NPCs, as well as interactive billboards for businesses to advertise their products on.
Another aspect of this launch is seamless NFT integration, meaning that 10k NFTs from the Cats and Watches Society (CAWS) can be used in the game, rendered in 3D as in-game mounts to help you in exploration and battles.
In order to access this version of the game, you not only need to download the game for free, but you also must apply to become a beta tester, which is done on the official website. You’ll have to connect a supported Web3 wallet to do so, with some of the requirements for becoming a beta tester stating that you need to provide your email address, be a member of the Dypius Discord server, have an active Twitter account, and more. At the time of writing, the website shows that 9888 players have signed up for testing.
