Zillion Whales has officially launched the open testing version of Survival Mode in their flagship web3 title Wild Forest, giving players the chance to try out new gameplay and play to earn various in-game rewards.
What Is Wild Forest?
Wild Forest is a free to play strategy game powered by the Ronin network. It combines fast-paced battles with an open player-driven economy that connects RTS gameplay with on-chain progression and trading.
Players build decks of 7 unique Units and engage in short, tactical PvP battles across single-screen arenas divided into multiple territories. Capturing territories allows you to place buildings that can generate Mana or deploy troops, as well as act as defensive towers. Each Unit consumes a specific amount of Mana and belongs to a tier, with higher tiers unlocked by upgrading your barracks during a match.
The game offers a web3-powered layer built around $WF tokens, seasonal leaderboards, and NFT assets. Players can earn $WF through ranked competitions, upgrade and trade NFT Units, and purchase or mint on-chain Packs that contain rewards such as Units, tokens, and cosmetic Skins.
Ownership and customization play a central role in the game's design, as NFT Units can be leveled up, ranked, or sold through the Ronin Market, while holders of Lords NFTs receive additional gameplay advantages, such as bonus rewards, priority access to features, and exclusive Bounty Board quests.
Wild Forest is available on PC, Android, and iOS through the Mavis Hub, Google Play Store, and Apple App Store respectively. It remains fully free to play, with wallet connection optional for those who wish to engage in the web3 economy.
If you’ve been looking forward to the new game mode, then now is your chance to hop in and test it out while earning rewards along the way.
What Is the Survival Mode in Wild Forest?
Wild Forest’s new Survival Mode is a single-player PvE challenge where players must endure continuous waves of enemies while managing deck composition, timing, and strategy. The objective is simple: survive as long as possible in tower defense-style gameplay.
This open testing marks the first chance for players to experience Survival Mode before its full release. It includes all functional systems, rewards, and scaling challenges, offering a complete playable experience that is designed to gather community feedback and gameplay data.
In this mode, players begin from the first wave and advance through increasingly powerful enemy encounters. Every 5th wave features a boss fight and grants a lootbox reward, which can contain in-game resources such as gold, shards, Units, and cosmetic Skins. Each run is independent, and performance determines both the rewards and leaderboard ranking.
Survival Mode currently features 4 difficulty levels and 1 available map during open testing:
- Easy – 15 waves
- Normal – 20 waves
- Hard – 25 waves
- Expert – 30 waves
Each difficulty tier unlocks sequentially, meaning players must complete the previous level before accessing a harder difficulty option. Deck power requirements apply just as in Ranked Mode.

Lootboxes act as the primary reward mechanism in Survival Mode. Players receive 1 lootbox for every 5 waves completed. Each box contains a random prize, which can range from resources to Units of varying rarity.
Unit rewards are divided into 3 chest types, each with different drop rates:
- Unit Chest (Small)
- Rare: 5%
- Uncommon: 20%
- Common: 75%
- Unit Chest (Medium)
- Legendary: 5%
- Epic: 15%
- Rare: 30%
- Uncommon: 50%
- Unit Chest (Large)
- Mystic: 5%
- Legendary: 30%
- Epic: 65%
These rewards are usable in the core game and contribute toward progression in PvP and deckbuilding. PvE matches also count toward Battle Pass tasks, with Bounty Board missions planned to be added as part of later updates.
Survival Mode also uses an energy-based system to regulate playtime and ensure fairness during testing. Each battle costs 25 energy, with a daily maximum of 100 energy that regenerates over time. One energy point is restored every 15 minutes.
Energy is consumed at the start of each battle, even if a player loses. The purpose of this limit is to maintain consistent testing conditions and prevent automated or exploitative play during the open test phase.
This system allows the developers to collect accurate gameplay metrics, balance the pacing of matches, and ensure that rewards remain fair across all difficulty levels.
How to Join Survival Mode Open Test
Participating in the open test for the Survival Mode is done by completing Wild Forest’s tutorial and playing your first PvP battle to gain access directly from the Mode Selection screen.
Once unlocked, the Easy difficulty becomes available first, allowing you to get started with repelling waves of enemies by deploying units and towers along the designated enemy path. You will earn a lootbox on every 5th wave, which means there are 3 lootboxes to earn in the 15-wave Easy level. Higher difficulty levels open up after completing each preceding one, so once you beat Easy, you go to Normal, and then completing that unlocks Hard, while successfully wading your way through the challenging 25 waves of the third difficulty will bring you to the final Expert difficulty level.
Because this is an open testing phase, players are encouraged to report any issues, share their experience, and suggest adjustments through the game’s official Discord server.
The open testing phase serves as a major development milestone for the PvE side of Wild Forest. It allows the team to collect real data from live gameplay to fine-tune the mechanics of wave progression, boss difficulty, and reward distribution. Unlike a traditional demo, this is a live, fully playable test that contributes directly to the final version. Developers are using this phase to balance the in-game economy, verify energy pacing, and evaluate how players interact with difficulty scaling.
