Zillion Whales has updated their free to play card RTS Wild Forest with Training Camps, the first feature for Castles that gives in-game utility to Lord Stakers.
In this Ronin-powered title, Training Camps are structures within Castles designed to let you level up units without needing to use Gold or Shards. This means that you need to stake a Lord NFT to use this new feature, as the Castles feature itself is only available for Lord stakers, making this both an NFT-gated and staking-gated addition to the blockchain game. You can place one Unit of your choosing in one Camp to begin the training process. Instead of needing to have resources to level up your Unit, this feature simply lets you wait it out for a certain period of time before the Unit is levelled up. How long this levelling process takes depends on the rank and league of the Unit. While the Unit is training, you can’t use the standard level up feature and you can’t play any matches with that Unit, but you can do other actions such as rank up, mint, burn, sell, or transfer, but doing any of these could still lead to the training procedure getting cancelled, requiring you to start the level up process over again.
The quantity and quality of Castles is what determines the amount of Training Camps you have at your disposal.
There are 2 types of Training Camps available: regular Training Camps and Elite Training Camps. Regular Training Camps let you level up your Unit to level 20, while Elite ones let you go to level 30. Depending on the rarity of the Lord NFT you own, you have one of these 4 types of Castles: Chateau, Tower, Fortress, or Citadel. The Chateau is available for those who stake a Rare Lord NFT, giving you a normal Training Camp you can use to level up your Unit to level 20, while the other types give you Elite Training Camps to make it possible to get your Unit to level 30. The Tower is for Epic Lord stakers, granting 1 Training Camp and 1 Elite Training Camp, while the Fortress, awarded to Legendary Lord stakers, features 2 Training Camps and 1 Elite version. If you’re staking a Mystic Lord, then you have the Citadel type, which consists of 2 Training Camps and 2 Elite Training Camps. So basically, the more Lord NFTs you stake, the more Castles you have, meaning more Training Camps available for use.
How long it takes for a Unit to level up will vary depending on the type of Unit, unit league, and the level it’s currently at, so the higher level the Unit already is and the rarer it is, the longer it will take for the training to increase the level further.
Wild Forest Lords are special NFTs that come in 4 different rarities while providing a variety of long-term benefits, including access to an exclusive Discord channel featuring early leaks, potential opportunities for getting on allowlists for other web3 projects, staking, and game benefits, such as the newly-added Training Camps addition to the Castles feature. Their total supply is 3000, and the floor price of this collection on the Mavis Market is 275 $RON (~$421) at the time of writing.
Lord Staking was introduced to Wild Forest in July this year for Play to Airdrop Season 2, allowing holders to stake their assets for 90 days in order to earn bonus airdrop points for the upcoming TGE of the $WF token as well as receive allocation in the Community Round.
This Community Round allocation however may not be possible to get any longer, though the studio might consider “revising eligibility for very recent stakes,” according to an announcement in the game’s official Discord server on September 11th. This same announcement revealed plans to take on a new staking approach which has no lock period, with the change being made due to delays in providing utility to these NFTs. With this new system, the number of days your NFT is staked will be tracked in order to unlock various Lords features after a number of days have passed in order to try and prevent multi-account abuse. A new reputation/point system will be introduced to make it so that the longer streak of staked days you have, the better chances you’ll be given of getting priority access to upcoming raffles and whitelists. The same system will be crucial for DAO voting, and for future rewards and use cases, with other NFTs such as legendary Units and skins also set to potentially be included in this system.
It’s not clear when this new system will be added, so the studio advises holders currently staking Lords to continue going through their 90-day streak. Additional details are planned to be revealed in an upcoming new whitepaper that will talk about both the reputation point system and updated staking details, but also about $WF tokenomics, which is set to reveal new token sinks as well as a “more complex system” that is said to be connected to the strategic gameplay of Wild Forest.
