WeMade has invested $7.2 million (₩10 billion KRW) into Studio Rasa, a new South Korean console game maker. The deal gives WeMade a 25% equity stake in the studio and publishing rights for its first project. The move reflects WeMade's growing interest in expanding its gaming footprint beyond web3 and PC titles.

A Strategic Push into Console Gaming

Studio Rasa was formed in June by three well-known builders: CEO Chang Kyu Noh, Project Director Tae-yeon Kim, and Art Director Hyeon Kim. The trio had earlier won the Grand Award at the 2023 Korea Game Awards, showing their creative talent and experience in the local games scene.

Now, the team is working on their first console game, which is set to launch sometime in 2028. The investment from WeMade will go toward growing the development team, building a game prototype, and designing art resources needed for full production.

In an official statement, WeMade CEO Kwan-ho Park said, "We are delighted to partner with one of Korea's top development teams whose capabilities have already been proven. WeMade will provide full support to help Studio Rasa raise the profile of Korean games in the North American and European markets."

The partnership does not appear to involve blockchain elements at this stage. The company's focus with Studio Rasa is on premium console game development and global publishing rather than web3 integration.

What Is Studio Rasa's First Project?

Though details are still limited, WeMade has confirmed that it has secured global publishing rights and a secondary investment option for the studio's debut game, currently called Project IL. The team plans to take its time to craft a high-end console experience, with a long timeline pointing to a release three years from now.

This slow but focused approach is in line with how AAA console titles are usually built. With WeMade's backing, Studio Rasa now has the financial base and freedom to build without rushing its vision.

WeMade's Ongoing Investment Strategy

WeMade's interest in Studio Rasa fits a larger pattern. Over the past few years, the firm has invested in several Korean developers, including Shift Up, Lionheart Studio, and MadNgine. Each of these partnerships reflects WeMade's effort to support game creators that show both creative potential and market reach.

By gaining stakes in these companies, WeMade is growing its influence across different platforms, genres, and regions. With Studio Rasa, the focus is clearly on breaking further into console markets in North America and Europe.

This move also adds to WeMade's global console IP portfolio, which is becoming a key part of its long-term growth plan.

The Company Behind the Deal: Who Is WeMade?

Founded in 2000, WeMade is best known for its classic MMORPG series Legend of Mir, which made a big impact in East Asia. Since then, the company has grown into a major player in mobile and online gaming.

In recent years, WeMade has moved into the web3 gaming space, with blockchain-powered games like MIR4, MIR M, and Night Crows. These games mix classic gameplay with token-based economies and NFT systems. Most of them are part of WEMIX PLAY, the company's blockchain game platform.

WeMade is one of the few game publishers that has merged AAA-level development with onchain systems on a large scale.

What Is WEMIX?

WEMIX is WeMade's blockchain platform. It is built on its own Layer-1 mainnet called WEMIX 3.0, and it supports games that use tokens, NFTs, stablecoins, and staking features. The goal is to create a complete ecosystem where in-game assets can be owned, traded, and used across different games.

The WEMIX platform includes a wallet, a DEX, an NFT marketplace, DAO tools, and staking options. The team markets it as a fully game-tested blockchain infrastructure, backed by real titles with active user bases.

Recent Developments in Web3: New Games on WEMIX

Even as it invests in console games, WeMade hasn't slowed down its blockchain push. Over the last few months, the company has announced and launched several web3 games through WEMIX PLAY.

Legend of YMIR Opens Global Pre-Registration

Last week, WeMade launched global pre-registration for the web3 version of Legend of YMIR, an MMORPG with large-scale battles and Norse mythology themes. Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game will be available on mobile and PC platforms.

Legend of YMIR uses a token called gWEMIX, which players can earn through gameplay and then swap for standard WEMIX tokens. The game features a player-driven economy and clan-based war systems, where in-game success leads to real crypto rewards.

There are also ongoing campaigns to attract players, including bonus draws, staking events, and a mission series called Valhalla Trials. These let players earn items and YMIR tokens by completing tasks and inviting friends.

ROM: Golden Age Reaches 4 Million Sign-Ups

Earlier this summer, WeMade and partner studio Redlab Games opened global sign-ups for ROM: Golden Age, a web3 MMORPG that uses a dual-token system as part of its "RPG Tokenomics 3.0" model. The game saw its global launch earlier this month.

By August 5, the game had reached 4 million pre-registrations. Features included daily check-in rewards, milestone bonuses, and weekly raffles. During the pre-registration period, players could win CROM, the game's main in-game token, and PLAY tokens, which are usable across the WEMIX PLAY platform

ROM: Golden Age is part of WeMade's wider attempt to make web3 gaming more accessible and scalable through token-based rewards.

What This Means for the Gaming Space

WeMade's investment in Studio Rasa shows that even with strong blockchain ambitions, the team is still grounded in classic game development. By backing a studio focused solely on console titles, WeMade is building long-term value in both web2 and web3 spaces.

At the same time, WeMade continues to add more web3 games to its platform and grow its onchain tools. Whether through new MMORPGs, token mechanics, or NFT systems, the company seems to be expanding on all fronts.
