High-fidelity Web3 MMO Space Nation is set to launch in Alpha on August 29th, allowing players to dive headfirst into its vibrant metaverse.
According to CEO Jerome Wu, the week-long alpha test will provide a first look at the rich lore of Space Nation, allowing fans to learn about the new human civilization through NPC chats, missions, and item descriptions. Players can take on the roles of ship captains and embark on a journey around the Telikos Cluster while exploring the space opera filled with enigmatic aliens and uncharted territories.
Space Nation, in essence, is part of a bigger entertainment franchise that includes the MMO, other games, animated shorts, and TV series. The game is led by a team of gaming experts and award-winning filmmakers, including World of Warcraft developer Jerome Wu and co-founders Roland Emmerich (Independence Day), Tony Tang (Warframe), and Marco Weber (The Thirteenth Floor).
"Space Nation Online is our main title, the Web3 space MMORPG," said Wu in an interview with Games Beat. "In general, it's a transmedia franchise or a universe we want to build. We also have multiple other Web2 and Web3 games in our plan. And we also have plans for animated shorts and the TV series and probably in the future more other transmedia projects."
During the Alpha, hundreds of gamers and Web3 fans will be given an access pass to join the program through a specific whitelisting process. The studio will provide a free "Alpha Gate" NFT as a certificate for each Alpha tester, which grants early access to alpha builds and pre-demos, as well as other benefits such as airdrops, whitelists, in-game surprises, access to offline events, and more.
A player in the Alpha will pilot a spaceship to finish a core PvE mission series, which is also the Alpha's primary goal. On top of that, there are over 15 side quests for players to explore. Users can observe others' gameplay and interact with them in the lobby, which takes place on a huge, continuous, seamless map. To learn more, check out the official webpage.
