Hong Kong-based blockchain tech and VC firm Animoca Brands has been named among the Fortune Crypto 40, a list of prominent companies in the crypto industries.
According to Fortune, Crypto 40 is a "definitive list of the most important crypto companies" across eight distinct categories: TradFi, CeFi, NFTs, Venture Capital, Data and Analytics Companies, Infrastructure Firms, Blockchain Protocol Firms, and DeFi. Animoca was named a winner in the Venture Capital category.

Animoca Brands, also a Deloitte Tech Fast winner, is well-known for being a blockchain game publisher and a prolific Web3 investor. The company aims to advance digital property rights and contribute to the establishment of an open metaverse.
Animoca Brands has developed and published a broad portfolio of products, including the REVV token and SAND token; original games, such as The Sandbox, Crazy Kings, and Crazy Defense Heroes; and products utilizing popular IPs, such as Disney, WWE, Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead, MotoGP™, and more. It has multiple subsidiaries, including The Sandbox, Blowfish Studios, GAMEE, Grease Monkey Games, etc., with over 380 Web3 investments, including Axie Infinity, OpenSea, Dapper Labs (NBA Top Shot), Yield Guild Games, Alien Worlds, and Star Atlas.
Last November, Animoca Brands unveiled plans to raise a Metaverse fund between $1 billion and $2 billion to supercharge Web3 developments. The company then launched a set of NFT licenses in March in a bid to protect creator royalties.
