Vorto Gaming is looking to bring its gaming platform to NEAR Protocol after receiving 25,000 NEAR and another $10,000 grant from the NEAR Foundation. How the Vorto Network, a blockchain solution tailored for play-to-earn gaming, will connect to the NEAR Protocol is a bit unclear so far.
Vorto Gaming came into existence after VZ Games merged with PD Gaming Group AB. These companies are now working together under one banner on their own blockchain solution and their real-time strategy game Hash Rush. NEAR is a blockchain solution that offers cheap transactions, offers bridging between Ethereum and other layer-2 solutions.
The Vorto Network isn't only meant for play-to-earn token distribution, but also for trading of NFTs between gamers and collectors. Arguably the services provided by the Vorto Network would be similar to for example Enjin's Jumpnet or Efinity and Sky Mavis' Ronin sidechain. All of them want to allow gamers to trade assets without having to worry about gas fees.
NEAR Protocol is quite a new player to the blockchain game. They launched their mainnet just a few weeks ago. Even though it's still early days for NEAR, the blockchain is seeing quite some activity. DappRadar noted in their monthly report that NEAR 's market cap grew from $330 million in early March to more than $2 billion at the end of April. This increase in value happened together with an increase of usage, as the active wallets went up from 200 to more than 8,000 during the same time frame.
A maximum of 30,000 gamers will have the ability to play the completely revamped version of the strategy game Hash Rush this summer. Signing up for the play test can happen on the official website. The update will also introduce new units, environments, and buildings. Furthermore the combat has become more action-oriented, even though there’s a tactical layer as well.
The list of updates continues with an improved crafting system, and the ability to customize heroes by completing challenges. During the test period, players can temporarily trade their items across a test version of the Vorto Network. This blockchain network is set to launch its mainnet later this year.
Hash Rush is a real-time strategy game that allows gamers to compete for items, resources and Rush coins. Players work to establish a crystal mining colony on different planets. They can attack enemies to gain more crystals and other rewards. In turn they need to defend their own crystals from threats by building and strengthening their mining colonies.
