UPDATE Feb 25th 1:15 PM UTC: Latest mint details now included.
There is less than 24 hours to go before the NFT mint for the Variance Genesis Void Collection officially begins on February 25th at 9 PM UTC. Here’s everything you need to know about this NFT collection for the free to play action roguelike Variance if you’re interested in participating.
What Is the Variance Genesis Void Collection?
The Variance Genesis Void Collection is a set of stylish character cards that unlock a variety of benefits and rewards, including a $VOID airdrop allocation.
A couple of cards from the collection have been revealed throughout this month, including an overview of NFT utility. According to details shared in the official X thread announcing the mint date, owning an NFT from this collection will bring you exclusive airdrops in the form of skins, in-game items, and NFTs, with the first airdrop set to arrive soon after the mint has taken place.
Next to exclusive airdrops, holders can also look forward to getting monthly rewards that seem set to include in-game currency bundles, battle passes, and DLCs. Owners can also expect to get early access to new features that developer Realm Studios plans to add to their Treasure-powered web3 metroidvania as they work on globally launching the 2D blockchain game.

Next to all these goodies, owning this genesis NFT will allow you to receive an airdrop allocation of the upcoming $VOID token. $VOID is an ecosystem token that is planned to be used to power a gameplay validation mechanism called Void Protocol. No matter what rarity the card you mint or buy is, the developers state that you will receive an equal $VOID airdrop as every other holder.
The $VOID tokenomics shared so far reveal that 10% of the token’s 1 billion total supply is reserved for card holders, while 50% of the supply is designated for ecosystem rewards. The team will hold 15% of the tokens, with 10% reserved for expansion incentives, and another 10% for “Protocol Power” while 5% is allocated for liquidity. Vesting schedules are not available at the time of writing, while the TGE is planned to take place at some point during 2025. There are plans to buy back tokens using revenue generated from battle pass purchases, so the more players there are and the more battle pass revenue is generated, the more token buybacks will occur.

How to Participate in the Variance Genesis Void Collection NFT Mint
You can participate in this NFT mint in one of 2 phases: OG + WL, or the Public phase. The first phase takes place on February 25th at 9 PM UTC, while the second phase is scheduled for February 27th at 5 PM UTC.
To get a whitelist spot, your best bet is to try and win in potential giveaways. Everyone eligible for the first phase has a guaranteed chance of minting an NFT, with OGs doing so for the price of 0.029 ETH to get Epic or higher Variants NFTs, while whitelisted users pay 0.033 ETH for Genesis Portals, which is the same mint price and asset for the FCFS Public phase, during which each wallet can mint 2 NFTs. Genesis Portal holders will receive Variants cards over the coming months as the team gets closer to releasing the global open beta version of their web3 title. As for the $VOID airdrop, Genesis Portal holders get 3% of the token's supply, meaning 8,333 $VOID tokens per Genesis Portal. Learn more about minting and utility in this newly-published page.
The mint was originally supposed to have 3 phases on the Base network, with 9500 cards up for grabs for the price of 0.035 ETH, but all that has now changed. Instead of minting on Base, the mint supply is now 3500, while the chosen blockchain network is Ethereum.
In the meantime, get ready to jump in the new Founders Wave Open playtest for Variance that will allow you to enjoy a completely free-to-play experience on your web browser. It just went live on February 24th around 9 PM UTC with new features and improvements, alongside its own set of rewards. In January 2025, the community was able to play to airdrop in the Variance Wave 3 playtest.
