Unite, a layer 3 network on Base that is focused on powering mass-market blockchain mobile games, has officially introduced its flagship web3 gaming platform: Bored Button.
What Is Bored Button?
Bored Button is a blockchain gaming platform featuring a variety of casual games for anyone to enjoy for free on web browsers and mobile devices, including Android and iOS. While it’s possible to play on browsers, some games might not work quite well as they’re designed with mobile in mind. Playing through a web browser also does not seem to come with play to earn integration, as it comes with no method to sign in or connect a wallet.
More than 130+ games have launched on the platform to date, and the ecosystem can be accessed through the Play Store, where it already has garnered significant popularity as it has amassed more than 5 million downloads. The store page also gives gamers the option to install it on their Windows PC too. You can also find the platform for free on the App Store as an app that is also designed for iPads.
If you’re looking to play and earn in a unified gaming hub consisting of fun and addictive casual games to enjoy, then Bored Button could be right up your alley. Here’s how you can join in!

Can You Play and Earn on Unite’s Bored Button?
While there is currently no official play and earn integration, to play fun casual games on Unite’s Bored Button, simply head on over to the platform’s website that is linked in the official X announcement and jump into any game available. You will likely want to download the platform on the Play Store or App Store to get ready to potentially play and earn in the future, with the links to the store pages available on the same website.
As of writing, it doesn’t seem like play and earn features are properly in place yet. It’s not quite clear if the app generates a wallet for you or not, as there is no profile to show this. You simply enter the app, get a mini-tutorial to explain the UI, and you start playing right away to try and rack up the highest score in whichever casual game you’re given. If you’re bored, you just press a red button to give you something else to play instead. You can add games to favorites, as well as view popular games and featured ones too.
According to an official deep dive on X, players can collect “daily rewards, prizes, and even tokens,” but I’ve yet to see how that is functionally the case at the time of writing. It’s also stated that you can redeem hundreds of gift cards from brands such as Google, Apple, Spotify, Amazon, Adidas, PlayStation, Starbucks, KFC, and more, but I do not see any section for gift cards either. The post also mentions that gift cards are only available through the mobile app. It’s possibly very limited based on your country of residence, or is simply a feature that is planned to be added soon. A moderator from the blockchain’s official Discord server states that everyone does receive an built-in wallet, and that daily rewards can be earned “when you play the game for a period of time” as well as by watching ads. The app images however shown by the team member doesn't match mine or the community member who asked regarding daily rewards. Simply put, it seems like the developers haven't actually updated the app with all the newly-announced web3 features yet. A look at the Play Store page shows January 28th of this year as being the last update, so we can probably expect blockchain integration to arrive very soon.
In any case, it’s not known whether you can play to airdrop the chain’s upcoming $UNITE token by playing on this platform, even when daily rewards and gift cards get added. Based on Discord messages in the chain’s official server, an airdrop for Bored Button players has not been confirmed yet, nor has any play to airdrop campaign been announced. Still, perhaps it could be worth playing anyways in case a potential surprise airdrop is given to loyal players. If you want to be more certain of receiving an airdrop allocation, you’ll want to play the L3’s Telegram game, League of Llamas, instead.
