Unagi, the game dev studio developing Ultimate Champions, a blockchain sports fantasy platform featuring football and basketball, has officially announced its very own upcoming token: UNA.
UNA is an upcoming token by Unagi that is set to be the core of their Web3 gaming ecosystem. The company has a long-term vision of creating an ecosystem of free-to-play blockchain games that are powered by only one single token. According to the announcement, the goal is to have games that aim to be accessible, innovative, and mainstream, with the new token at the heart of all of them.
This token is set to act as the “universal ticket to the entire range of Unagi games,” which means that the team is transitioning over from CHAMP to UNA.
If you’re a CHAMP holder, you will be getting UNA at a 1 to 1 ratio, regardless of whether you bought or earned CHAMP, with tokens in your game wallet set to be automatically updated into UNA. Only holders whose wallets get included in an upcoming snapshot will be eligible. The developers will let the community know in due time when this snapshot will take place. When the snapshot happens, the new tokens will be airdropped to you, and deposits and withdrawals will be temporarily halted as the team prepares to launch UNA on various exchanges.
With this move to the new token, this also means that you will be rewarded with UNA in-game instead of CHAMP, and aside from that, nothing in particular is significantly changing in terms of progression, so you will be able to use the upcoming token in Auctions, the Pack Store, and Marketplace.
According to the official post, the release of this new token will mark the start of an “extensive plan” for next year, with the studio's Twitter/X bio revealing that UNA itself is scheduled to launch in Q1 2024.
