Two José Delbo Collabs Coming to MakersPlace

Argentinian comic artist José Delbo will launch two new crypto art collaborations on art platform MakersPlace this Thursday. Delbo worked together with acclaimed comic artist Mark McKenna, who has created comics for both Marvel and DC Comics, and his own daughter Silvana Delbo.

Delbo and McKenna created 'Into the Future', which combines the most popular characters drawn by both artists. For example, Wonder Woman, Deadpool. Batman and Darth Vader are in the artwork. The second artwork by Delbo and Silvana Delbo combines the comic book art from Delbo senior, while Silvana adds her pop art coloring.

Alongside these two art drops McKenna has created his own Star Wars-inspired artwork called 'Science Fiction Fantasy in a Galaxy Far Far Away'. All these artworks will launch for sale on Thursday.

Delbo thriving with crypto art

José Delbo has been creating comic books for many decades, but it's almost as if crypto art is reigniting his career once more. The comic book artist sold 250 edition of a new comic book character called Death alongside artworks based on franchises and characters like Batman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Transformers and Aquaman.

His first one-of-a-kind artwork sold for more than 8 thousand dollars to WhaleShark. Another unique drawing sold for more than 7 thousand dollars. Recently José Delbo worked together with Trevor Jones, and their artworks sold for a combined value of more than 180 thousand dollars.

What is crypto art?

Crypto art or digital art has been around for many years. However, without the existence of blockchain technology it was impossible to verify authenticity and rarity. Now digital art is connected to a token on the Ethereum blockchain. That way buyers can see how many copies of a certain artwork there are, and whether the product is original.

The concept of seeing a digital image as art, is one thing. However, for many people it will be a challenge to consider digital images as valuable. Consider this: The Mona Lisa is worth many millions of dollars. If I would paint the Mona Lisa in an exact copy, it would be worth only 50 dollars. Because we all know where the original version is. Being able to verify the authenticity and rarity of a piece of art is crucial.

Some people don’t care about the Mona Lisa. It’s just a painting. They are happy to download an image for Google Images, print it on canvas and hang it in their living room. Others want the real deal. The same rules go up for digital crypto art.
