The Endless Clouds Foundation has officially published the first version of the $END whitepaper, giving the blockchain gaming community details on how the token will be used in Treeverse.
Alongside a general introduction to the gaming market, digital ownership, benefits of blockchain technology and how they’re using it in partnership with Immutable zkEVM, and examples of trading in traditional games such as RuneScape, WoW, and CS:GO, the whitepaper gives us an overview of the game, its development studio, the $END token, and 3 NFT collections currently comprising the company’s ecosystem.
As for the token itself, the whitepaper reveals that $END is an ecosystem token created by the Endless Clouds Foundation to exclusively power the Endless Clouds ecosystem. This currently means that the token will be first used as a premium currency for Treeverse, and the plan is for the role to be the same for any other games that integrate it in the future.
This means that in terms of utility, $END is used to gain access to cosmetics and exclusive game content, but it may also end up being used for additional sales of “physical and on-chain releases/partnerships.” This probably means that sales of any future NFTs and merch will have this token as an available payment option. The whitepaper also compares the token as being similar to vBucks in Fortnite, or VP in Valorant, with the key difference being that $END is a tradable on-chain token. They currently don't plan on using any other native token within their games, aside from the usual off-chain soft currencies.
The token is being introduced by the Endless Clouds Foundation, who have successfully managed to raise a total of $6.25 million from investors and creators such as Animoca Brands, IdeaCo Labs, Jeff Zirlin (Sky Mavis), Luca Netz (Pudgy Penguins), Stani Kulechov (AAVE), and more.
In terms of tokenomics, the first version of the whitepaper reveals $END to be a ERC20 token with a total supply of 500 million tokens. This makes Ethereum L1 and Immutable zkEVM its primary chains.
As for how the supply is actually allocated, specific details on that have not yet been revealed. What this documentation states so far is that a “majority” of the allocation goes to future community rewards. This means most of the tokens will be used for seasonal gameplay rewards, mini campaigns, NFT holder participation, event prize pools, and more. These token rewards look set to be manually distributed by the foundation team in partnership with the game’s developers and any other future games that join the ecosystem.
That’s all we know about the tokenomics so far in this first edition of the token’s whitepaper, which states that full tokenomics will be announced just before TGE takes place. But when is TGE?
While no additional info on the $END TGE was given in the whitepaper announcement on June 23, an earlier X post on June 18 from Treeverse founder Loopify clarified that the token is still set to launch this June and that the tokenomics are complete. This is in line with their monthly Treeverse update post, in which they also outlined a Season 2 overhaul for their free to play MMORPG.
That being said, we can likely expect more important details on everything surrounding the $END token to be revealed in the coming days.
