Top NFT Collections and Games this Week - September 17th

Unity shoots itself in the foot, the Bored Apes are back on top, and Farmer's World is posting numbers that can't be real. Here are the top web3 games and NFT collections from this past week
Top NFT Collections and Games this Week - September 17th

Farmer's World is back, mobile games continue to surge, Sugartown makes a huge debut, and the Nouns project continues to soar. Let's jump in and take a look at some of the top web3 games and NFT collections from this past week!

Perhaps the biggest news in all of gaming this week was the recent announcement from Unity that they would start charging developers for every install of their game! Needless to say, this caused quite an uproar amongst the gaming community, with some projects announcing that they would move to a different codebase, and Unity trying to backtrack and say that it wouldn't affect all games. But with John "let's charge players for reloading their weapons" Riccitiello in charge of Unity, I wouldn't expect anything good to come from this.

Unreal Engine is the only other real competitor at the moment, but it will be interesting to see if this leads to other coding platforms emerging to grab a slice of the market.

But while we wait for the full fallout from this announcement, web3 gaming development continues onward. In fact, Animoca Brands just recently announced they had received $20 million in funding specifically for their Mocaverse!

Wreck League opens up their game to the first players with an inagural PvP tournament with thousands of prizes. We also have new releases from Mighty Action Heroes and HV-MTL Forge, and a new mini-game called Cosmic Salvagers that comes from a collaboration between Alien Worlds and Colonize Mars.

In addition, Pegaxy reveals the first build of their revamped, 3D, Pegasus racing game, and Arc8 offers a chance for all their players to play and mint a 'Beastie', a digital companion who gives their owner various bonuses.

Read on for a look at the most active web3 games and NFT projects for the week. And be sure to keep an eye on our website and Twitter feed for the latest developments in the web3 gaming space!

After a week's absence, Farmer's World has apparently been reflagged as active on DappRadar and reappears at the top of our charts with an astounding 832 thousand active users! However, in all honesty, I can in no way believe that those are actually individual users. And actually, it's kind of funny because their website (which hasn't been updated in a long time), claims that they have "over 150,000 players"!

The rest of the charts see a lot of movement this week with a couple of new entries, a major shift in the top games, and a continued surge from mobile games. Our perenial top two for a long time, Alien Worlds and Splinterlands, are now relegated to 5th and 6th place.

Dmail Network appears to be a mis-labeled entry in our gamig charts, as they are a web3 mail program.

On the back of their free mint earlier this week, the Oras collection from Sugartown sees a tremendous amount of trading, pushing them into tenth place on our charts this week with over $1.6 million in trading volume!
