The soul-crushing heat of summer has already hit my neck of the woods. So I'll probably be spending more time indoors over the next few months. But that's okay, because web3 gaming and the ever growing numbers of NFT collections have enough going on to keep me busy! So let's take a look at some of the happenings this past week in the world of blockchain!
The markets were certainly shaken by the recent announcements from the United States SEC concerning charges against Binance and Coinbase. But despite the turmoil and uncertainty, the building continues!
Lots of new announcements this week from a variety of games. Skyweaver implemented a new quest system for their trading card game, while Continuum World opened up Season 2 of their First Explorers event, giving players another opportunity to gather resources and trade them for NFTs.
If you're looking for playtests, Alterverse opens up their Sky City beta, Ascenders launches an alpha playtest for their base building, City Simulation game, Worlds Beyond showcases two different types of games in an alpha test for their virtual world metaverse, and Heroes of Mavia announces plans to start their beta test later this month!
Read on for a look at the most active web3 games and NFT projects for the week. And be sure to keep an eye on our website and Twitter feed for the latest developments in the web3 gaming space!

10. Lifeform | 24.72k |
Some downard trending numbers in the gaming charts this week. Which is not surprising as the active player numbers for web3 gaming seem to often be affected by general fluctuations in the market. But otherwise we still have all the same players in the top 10 this week, except for one newcomer.
Lifeform is our new entry this week, though I'm not sure that I would classify it as a game. Lifeform is an avatar creator, allowing users to create a digital identity. The Lifeform team hopes to use these avatars to bridge apps across both the web2 and web3 spaces. Interesting, perhaps? A web3 game? Not so much!

10. Pudgy Penguins | $2.51M | -36.31% |
Despite a dip in the numbers, Gods Unchained holds their spot at #5, with over $5 million in volume from over 67 thousand trades! Perhaps their more frequent balance patches have sparked a greater interest in trading and collecting Gods Unchained NFTs?
CryptoPunks returns to our charts this week after a brief hiatus and the Nakamigos hype finally drops off a bit. Otherwise we just see some reshuffling of the ranks, and, for the most part, an overall downward trend in sales, mirroring the current negative sentiment in the broader crypto markets.
