Top NFT Collections and Games this Week - July 30

Summer vacation is already nearing an end for many of those in school. But, in the time left, there are still some new alphas and demos from web3 gaming for you to try! And while web3 games seem to be doing well, pretty much all NFT collections took a hit this week.

NFT trading volume is down again for the top projects -- and most projects really. Some say that NFTs are dead, which we know isn't completely true. But perhaps the type of NFTs that people put value on is beginning to change. And web3 gaming, which inherently provides value to their NFTs, is in a prime spot to attract more mainstream attention!

If you're looking for something to do this week, there are plenty of options. Metalcore opens up their alpha, allowing all players a chance to try out their sci-fi FPS game, which is kind of cross between Battlefield and Planetside. Those who own an Everseed Battle Plant or Ranger can try out the new version of their alpha, featuring randomized maps, a new interface, and a battle pass system.

Metarush is accepting applications for an upcoming closed demo playtest, and an open beta for Parallel, a sci-fi themed TCG game begins on July 31st. And be sure to keep your eyes open for a chance to play to mint a Fableborn Primordial!

And at this point, there are always ongoing alphas and betas for a variety of web3 games!

Top play-to-earn games by active users

Sweat Economy takes another big fall this week and it indeed looks like this move to earn mobile app may have just been a brief sensation. But we'll see. It can still continue to lose active players at this same rate and remain on our charts for a few weeks. And our other recent move to earn app, SuperWalk, is still holding onto 56k users.

The big surprise this week comes from Splinterlands. After following up a recent community vote to ban bots from Modern leagues, I expected to see a drop in numbers. Instead we have an active player surge of 184%, putting Splinterlands back in the top three!

And our new entry this week is Untitled Platform, a free to play, retro, web-based, multiplayer, 2d platformer game. Players earn rewards for participating in the game and placing on top of the leaderboards.

Top 10 NFT collections by volume traded

A tough week for NFT trading. Drops in trading volume across the board except for Art Blocks, which is actually a collection of art collections by different artists.

The demand for NFTs continues to decline, especially those without any real use case. The time seems ripe for NFT gaming collections to move into our charts. But, Gods Unchained still remains the only true gaming collection anywhere near the top 10. And they stay strong, seeing a steady stream of $4 million plus in trading volume every week -- even with the downturn, and a relatively small playerbase! And to be honest, I have to wonder if some of this is wash trading for IMX rewards. Otherwise, Gods Unchained players are spending about $1k each week, on average, per player! Which doesn't seem quite right.

Besides that, we have the usual suspects in our lineup, with some shuffling of spots.
